Re: How do you block and avoid persistant thoughts and emotions? [Re: bandaid]

Mental content can be 'witnessed' from a detached perspective. It is unwise to attempt to arrest the stream of consciousness. There are several meditative styles that appeal to different personality types, but it is important to use techniques that can be performed during all mundane acts: eating, shopping, driving, pooping, whatever, as well as sitting techniques which exclude all activity. The idea is to make everything more conscious. Another way of looking at it is that all your acts will be 'consecrated' - dedicated to Pure Consciousness which is GOD.

Yes exactly, it soon becomes a concept, It will be in the same place as those frequent bad thoughts which are always on the edge of your consciousness.

that reminds me i need to buy a bottle of good port this afternoon.

those are some good tips

I find myself always pulled in two directions

its either im feeling guilt on what happened, or i'm feeling sorrow because what i want is not happening now.

Its eaither the one or the other.

I'm going to stop doing that ......../ starting today
Not because i processed and overpowered every issue but because its very annoying

Another thing that bothers me to the max.

I dont know when i started but sometime long ago, probably in childhood i got the following imprint, that you decide what you want in life and you'll get it if you really want it.

So i decided whats the most important thing, but years pass and the thoughts that i might never experience it killing me

"clearing your mind of ALL thought is key"

knowing why and how also helps

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

'why' is easy to answer:

no thoughts = no bullshit clouding your mind = detached view of the world = deeper understanding of things (due to the fact that you'd have no real desires to try and mold any incomming information into any sort of preconcieved idealism that you'd like everything to fit into)

'how' is a tad bit more difficult to answer though, seeing as certain things tend to work for some people while other people have to go down a different route

I, personally, found a rigerous schedual of meditation and DXM did the trick quite nicely though  :yesnod:

why is impossible, but
how is a possible trace - certainly leading to some learning about the issues (usually why simplifies the issues to the absurd and ends up with the laying of blame and pointing fingers like peasants at a guillotine)

clearing the mind is a direction
i.e. towards clarity,
and towards simplicity
but it is not actually a doable task.

you clear by not reacting (relaxing)
or you move to a clearer state by not reacting (relaxing)
same thing.

the next ting will arise out of the void, so that is why I say clearing the mind of all things is not doable, input always arrives.
actually that is a quite refershing thing about it all.

I think it is possible. However returning would not, because like you said, it would require a flux that would not otherwise exist in an "empty" mind.

I've thought about this regarding meditation, that if you reach absolute calm, nothing would be able to end the session.

it's not a matter of never allowing anything to enter...but rather never allowing anything to remain - all thoughts simly flow through you, and you allow them to exit just as easily as they entered (e.g. you never allow yourself to dwell upon anything)
