"Hi, I'm John Kerry... and I'm reporting for duty"

Does anyone else think Kerry is milking his Vietnam service to absurdum? He spent four months in an unpopular war, one which he turned protester against, more than 30 years ago and now it is the centerpiece of his campaign. It seems pretty silly to me. He's spent more than 20 years in the Senate, and yet he never brings up his record, only his service in Vietnam. I briefly considered voting for him for a while, but after that I just couldn't take him seriously anymore. And then there was issue of him not having actual issues...

Just to correct; Bush has been a reformed alchoholic for 18 years, and if he ever used cocaine it was more than 30 years ago. You are entitled to your opinion, but that was innacurate. Anyways, the post is about Kerry's campaign strategy, not whether he or Bush are bad people.

He has to keep bringing up his service history in order to burn it into the minds of the voters that he is in fact, "The Real Deal". He's everything that Bush pretends to be.
If it annoys you that The Real Deal constantly brings up his Real Dealosity, then vote for the fake deal.

A real man would have stuck it out and stayed. Not ran home over a technicality and one he abused at that.
Just admit that Kerry's war record sucks and Bush doesnt have one.

John Kerry's war record doesn't "suck" at all. The man won metals. I don't care if you don't think he deserved them, but he won them.
The man not only didn't duck the draft, he volunteered for service in Vietnam for Christ's sake.

He commited war crimes and was able to run away due to a scratch on his arm. And they gave metals away in Vietnam like it was nothing. Edit: why is there a circle over Bush's crotch?

Ok, so Kerry's a big pussy. As long as you recognize that Bush was an even bigger pussy. Seriously though, right wingers need to stop bringing up Vietnam this instant. You can't fuck with Kerry on that one.
The circle is over Bush's crotch, I assume, because the photoshopper who made the picture is highlighting the way that Bush's crotch looks huge. They're trying to say that Bush's crotch was made to look big to symbolically say "Look at what big balls I have America."

I think commiting war crimes is actually worse than if you dodged the draft. And what Bush did was perfectly legal, now if he had fled to Canada i would feel different. Using connections and taking advantage of situations is the American Way.

Is it just me or does anyone else think some secret gay illuminati syndicate produces all the anti-bush photoshop pics?

Less is more. No, you know what? I?m actually thinking about my stance on that now.
My first thought was that "going to war for your country even though you committed small-scale war crimes is better than sitting on your ass at home" but now you?ve got me thinking. Hmmm.....
Either way, nothing Kerry is or has done is worse than sending our country to the wrong war and appointing John Ashcroft.
Kerry > Bush

I direct you to the second reply on this thread. I admire your ability to read minds. I only wish I could also uncover such carefully hidden and factually unsupported motives in people I have never met.

I have to agree that he plays up the Vietnam card way too much. I wish he would spend more time talking about what he plans to do as president.

That wouldn't be very good for business.

considering the circumstances under which he received the medals, i'd respect him a hell of a lot more if he didn't.

A lot of talk is going around about Kerry's 3 purple hearts, some say they are not deserved.
Nobody mentions that he also won two bronze stars and a silver star, medals for valor, which are not given away lightly. Nobody will dare say that these medals are not deserved, because the record speaks very clearly on why he did deserve them.
He won the silver star for jumping into a burning river to save a buddy who fell in, while under enemy fire.
Kerry jumped into fire to save an american soldier. While serving his country in Vietnam, when he could have used his family connections to get out of it.
Bush jumped into his car and went for beer. While AWOL from safe duty in the States, and he used his family connections to get out of trouble for it.
