Harvesting these HVC shoeys today. The green caps are new to me. I initially thought they were just late bloomers, but they never darkened up or dropped any spores. Cool to see this strain do something different.

:tellmeastory: Much love, my friend. You make me smile on the reg. Sometimes I’ll see you post some of these beauties and it reminds me to get back into the semp game. You and Freshprints were some of the folks who got me hooked on my first exotic. Oh and odissey’s trip reports of course.

@lithop, whoa dude. What a trip! One for the ages, lowkey. That was an adventure, which is a great way to describe the semp trip in general too. It’s never a conventional experience for me. I’ll have to find my reports, they’re buried far back in this thread. IYKYK, gotta eat these fresh.

I eat them dry at festivals. Still strong, but the experience is different. Less in your face about things. Harder to meet the octopus. Though it has been years. Nowadays, the feedback people give me re: the quality of the trip has changed. Their experiences aren’t aligned with mine anymore. Not in a bad way, either.  I’ll have to give them another nibble to observe the drift.

Been a while since I cloned something. ‘Twas a pain in the ass lol. But I took several clones and a ton of swabs. My scope isn’t strong enough to look for spores, but we’ll see if anything germs in the next few days.

I think back on it very fondly- a top trip.

Interesting what you touch on about change of trip quality. I did try to track down your reports but to no avail, when/if ever you end up sharing I'll be keen to take a look.

But yeah I find dry semps to be a lovely trip as well- and varied in their effects- but fresh are just dynamite.

Has anyone here experienced issues with Tres Soles not opening their caps? HVC always opens up but only one of my 3 TS totes have a single cap open the rest refuse to do so... Last flush they didn't open either:lol:

The ones I know of are:

HVC
Tres Soles
Xico
Xalpa
Coyopolan

I might've mixed som up with Zapotecorum but these are the ones I know and I want them all:awesome:

Never gotten Tres Soles to fruit for me, so no idea about the caps opening mate.
Couldn't say for xalpa, but those other varieties I recognise from semp nerding.

I got them to fruit but barely... So this is what I've got - a random mess:lol: another one is opening the cap by now though and imma be honest, that's the best cluster I've had:uhoh: the dark ones are ready for harvest but the rest there needs plenty of time still:lol:



And I'm not certain about xalpa... I just remember the name being thrown around but I could be wrong.

Yeah they're all MS to begin with and all 3 tubs are from the same agar/grains.

tried and failed to fruit hvc, plates looked dirty, made many transfers, put some on pucks yesterday hoping for fruits to start over. checked a plate from January today and whaddaya know :lol:




just had to wait 10 months

Got a couple more tubs across the finish line. I let this second one go a bit too long and had to toss a few fruits where that bald spot is :lol:




I ate 4g fresh on one occasion and then .5g dry on another, and I’m not really finding them much more potent than strong cubes. They’re absolutely lovely to cultivate, though. Beautiful mushrooms with some real character.

I had 25g wet before and it blew my mind. It's a different type of trip for me. It's more spiritual for the soul if that makes sense.

Spawned on 8/31. I had other tubs I sent at the same time that finished a week or so faster, but these took their sweet time.

It's been a while since I've grown these. I've got a tub going now that's got a ton of knots. What is everyone using for casing? I believe coir worked the last time I grew these?
