Thanks Kloakk, I appreciate it. I can make new pictures any time. Do you have tips how I can make better photos to get better feedback?

I'm out of jars, but it's the only spawn I have atm. There's more promising stuff on agar (T1 ochra, subtrop and bvi), that needs some time

What I meant was that if you let it grow out more it will probably be easier to take better pictures as well make it easier for us to get a better look. For good pictures you need good light, light on the jar and the camera lense on the opposite side :awesomenod:

Thanks. I'll let them grow a bit. I have nothing to lose

I want to apologize for freaking out a little bit about how the myc looked like. I'm much more confident in how the jars look post-shake. Added pics in my journal for future reference.

What to do with shoeboxes which have dried out like this? Some are already knotting but other's not yet. Put a thin layer of pete verm casing or just coir?

Ok, I'm just going to put some casing over it. Should I punish the surface beforehand?

just add some verm or coir on top, maybe 1-2 cm...

Im assuming this is from day 1:
mist gently every 24 hours for 3 days with the lid latched and look for improvement. but at this point, fork it, punish it, add coir, it's alive and resilient and it wants to proliferate.

This is about 1.5 weeks in. It's a slow ape clone. Usually takes about 4 weeks to harvest. No amount of misting helps at this point, it just evaps away.

I have some prepped casing that I could use. You would prefer cv vs casing? And you think punishing it is a must? Tnx

you could likely just put a compacted layer of clean coir on top.

I would either punish it or scrape the surface and submerge the cake over night and then apply some new coir just prevent sidepinning from hell.

This looks like it completely hydrophobic though ...

Agree and that's why you want to either punish it or scrape the matted mycelium off and then submerge over night.

I don't think slapping a casing on top of a matted mycelium surface will hydrate the cake much.

@DV8DUG & Mackload

I do have a couple transfers from that plate already going. Two normal plates and a trench, just to practice and as a bit of insurance. I don't have a ton of plates to pour and I've got too many things on the run rn, so I can't run too many more of each. The transfers are coming along nicely though, if a bit slowly, I'm just being tremendously impatient. Seems like I've been waiting for ages but I've only been working with the cubes for a little while.

I agree yeah, but it would provide better surface conditions ...┐(∵)┌

Yeah sure, but mushrooms needs a lot of water and a casing can't provide that alone, especially big fruits like cubes.

But ain't nothing stopping you in giving it a try :awedance:

I had a closer look at the other two boxes and they already have quite a few knots and tiny pins, so idk if it makes sense to do anything to them huh? I'd be washing it all away ...
