    #1257893 - 01/29/03 06:58 AM (22 years, 4 months ago)

ok well iv ordered my spores from thelittleguy got the tresure coast strain for my frist attempt at growing in southflorida so it stay like 75 to 76 in my room i got 2 questions iv read alot of teks and imma be useing 1/2 pint jars but some teks say use more of this and that like for example one tek says

For each 1/2 pint jar mix 2/3 cup vermiculite and 1/4 cup brown rice flour in a mixing bowl. Adaptation-23 When these ingredients are well mixed, add 1/4 cup of water for each 1/2 pint jar you plan to prepare

step 7. get a large mixing bowl and put 1/2 cup of vermiculite in the bottom, level out.

step 8. cover the vermiculite with 1/4 cup of the ground rice flour evenly.

step 9. sprinkle on 1/4 cup of spring water.

so what is the right ammount i should use also what is the best way to get my incubator to 85 degress to start the grow in the jars a heating pad with like towels over it or what thank you for all the help

Jeff

1/8 cup of brown rice powder (Health food stores and co-ops)
1/2 - 2/3 cup of horticultural vermiculite (medium grade) (garden centers and hardware)
40-45 cc's (milliliters) of water or (a little less than 1/4 cup) (1&1/2 ounces) (3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon)

which is the right one 1/2 or 2/3?

depends - different flour sources and particle size, different verm particle size, even different water. somewhere between 50% and 65%. don't worry too much about it. try the fungifun.org link above, for a great way to get the water content right.

You might want to check the PF formula update :
http://www.fanaticus.com/pf-update.htm

Or prepare the substrate acording to this:
