Thanks Kloakk, I appreciate it. I can make new pictures any time. Do you have tips how I can make better photos to get better feedback?

I'm out of jars, but it's the only spawn I have atm. There's more promising stuff on agar (T1 ochra, subtrop and bvi), that needs some time

What I meant was that if you let it grow out more it will probably be easier to take better pictures as well make it easier for us to get a better look. For good pictures you need good light, light on the jar and the camera lense on the opposite side :awesomenod:

Thanks. I'll let them grow a bit. I have nothing to lose

I dont recall who originally asked the question but collecting condensation inside your cabin when using glass roofs.

The condensation finally consolidated and made a puddle. Im not too worried about it because I was trying to rescue an old ass plate/ practice doing CS'ing.

Anyone come across this with a good solution to prevent condensation on glass cabin roofs?

Don't think you can, but doesn't the same thing happen with agar roofs :strokebeard:

For those who grew KSSS from spores without isolation, how often were the shrooms looking much more standard?

Who knows u might be able to have cabin sequesters n agar sandwiches upside down to have condensation n moisture build on the lid n evap off slowly

Might have failure with this as I haven't tryed tho who knows it might work

I havent dont an agar roof yet. So there's really no way to prevent post cabin condensation? Im assuming its okay for the myc?

So the 80 dollar dehydrator I got already shit the bed. I'm guessing burnt out heating element if the smell is any indication of what happened😡😤😡 So I got to thinking unless I wanna spend $350-$400 on some heavy duty restaurant style dehydrator(which I don't), that more than likely isn't going to last anyways why don't I just make something. This way at least I can fix it in the unlikely event that it also breaks. Which lead me first to YouTube then to this fine mushroom encyclopedia of a website and ultimately to my question. Is this a absolutely ridiculous idea? Cause hear me out, I have the trays that came with the shitty dehydrator and I have a old school fan on legs you can tilt straight up, and this thing is like one of those old work horses of a fan. Also you always hear bad things about potency and heat. So what do you think yay or nay? As with all things mushroom related I came directly here so I haven't even thought of how yet, that will come after.

I have run so many mushrooms through my old school Ronco dehydrator, silent, sits in the garage and puts in WORK!  They are cheap and last a long time, simple heat element, intake, and exhaust too easy.  Fleabay had one for sixty bucks or something, new in the box it looked like.

So I've got some PE in shoebox and I let get a little dry, started misting again around 10 days ago but I've got some patches that just look like dry coir. Should I be trying to water those patches at all or just maintaining moisture droplets on the lid at this point now that I've got a couple pins?

Just keep it sparkly.  If that requires daily misting youve got too much fae

A box fan and a window screen will work it's just nowhere near as efficient.

I have this one. But with eight trays  I ran at it 24/7 for about a year straight and never any issues so far.

I have two.  different brands. basically exactly the same.

I like to get my appliances from eBay either new or used. Lots of other stuff you can find they're for good prices as well.

Ps. No clue why that says eBay affiliate link. I'm no affiliate. This is just an honest suggestion I promise.

It's the name of the game but also you just caught me while I was making coffee.  If you haven't read the hitchhikers guide I strongly suggest doing so. See what you can get out of this first flush while simultaneously getting your head wrapped around the fruiting process and the concept of surface conditions.

Then we can punish it, possible pseudo-case, and get you a better second flush.

I feel like upside-down wouldn't work, the whole principal behind cabins is that bacteria has a hard time climbing vertically and the mushroom myc effectively outruns it. I don't see why condensation is an issue to begin with honestly since you're waiting for growth to happen on top

I'll say this, I know they're expensive as shit, but I've literally run an Excalibur for hundreds and hundreds of hours in a restaurant before without issue. You definitely get what you pay for. That being said, you can also usually find a shitty one on fb marketplace for like 20-30 bucks. If you're fine with trashing equipment fairly often just get the disposable heroes, otherwise save up for the nice equipment. They're good for things beyond drying mushrooms too, start using it for other shit and effectively increase it's value. Also, oxidation due to moisture being present is far more damaging to the alkaloids than heat is. RevMyc has an awesome thread about this exact topic.

Humbly requesting second opinions from the lords of mush on whether these jars are ready to spawn? Obviously... I could just wait longer, but I'd like to get a better feel for when its actually 100% colonized.

I thought I had this down until I had 4 APE shoeboxes succumb to the green death, after the jars looked clean through 2 B&S's and at spawning. I suspect they weren't fully colonized and they looked similar to below.

Thank you!

Why's the grain all pushed to one side? Are you storing them horizontally? They look a little bacterial to me with the way the grains are sticking to the glass and the few grains that wont fully colonize. Have you shaken these at all yet?

I've taken to storing the jars on their side, makes B&S about 100 times easier. And these two have been through two break and shakes, recovered well both times.

What sort of lids are you using? The grains look awfuly close to touching the lid, or maybe they are touching it, I'd be worried about that as a possible contam vector personally.
