Transfer a small piece from a promising sector.

Idk about him, but might as well go one more round of transfer. It looks clean to me, but it's better to go overboard.

A tiny bit of bacteria or mold mycelium can screw up a huge monotub, so its better to be safer than sorry

I don't like how the mycelium thins out in a circle that doesn't match where the sample was placed. I've seen this kind of behavior in contaminated plates before.

And I'm also not sold on having so much variability coming from a clone.

I could be wrong, but personally I wouldn't trust it.

Try and get a backlit photo of the bottom plate. It looks okay but the patches of aerial mycelium are a lil sus, but the photo isn't great

fontinalis666, Belintaf, Huskies,

Thanks again for the feedback. I really appreciate how helpful this community is. I'll definitely attempt a transfer with these, and I'll toss the more clearly contaminated plate.

I've attached a couple of photos of that bottom plate, which are hopefully more appropriately backlit (I placed a flashlight inside my still air box and the plate on top).

All good dude! We all like to help.

Try to keep orientations standard in the future, but using the first pic of your last post, I think you can safely grab from 3 o clock.

Next plate will give you better feedback.

For sure! Pics are def better, the backlit photo helps a lot in conjunction with a well lit overhead photo.

If it was me, I'd prolly take my wedge from here.

Do you have a idea what too do after the Grains are Full colonized? I do some Bulk transfers years ago and also successfully Harvest some Shrooms but I feel I am not so professional yet so i love too Ask too become better advises.

I know there is a Ziplock Bag Tek maybe that's a option? I have 2 Jars full soon transfer and 2 Jars they need more time but looking good also.

I think it's Coco Coir the best Medium too mix the Grains right in a 1:1 ore 1:2 Ratio? I have a Bag of Plagron Coco for Cannabis but it's not a dry block it's Pre Hydrated but it's not a problem i think too add litte bit of Water too it ore better buy a Dry Coco Block?

I can also built a small Monotub maybe i have one in a Garage if not not a problem too buy a Box and Screw some holes.

Any Plan for me for my Grains looking they are not far from know ready for Bulk maybe a week?

2 Jars is a good candidate for a small tub, like 20 liters, or a extra large freezer bag. The thread to read is v

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27280275/page/1

Here is my rule of thumb for spawn/coir ratios :

1:1 if you suspect your grains might be bacterial.
1:2 is a good safe option for most scenarios
1:3 if you have a very trusted culture that you know can handle it

For the tubs, I recommend this method. A blowtorch and a screwdriver are all I do to melt the holes.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26140339/page/1

Anyhow, once the grains are fully colonized, give it an extra day or two just to be safe.

I'd say they are ready in a week or two. I'd shake once more when they are 60% colonized.

Crucial advice is don't rush it, you can loose weeks of work by simply rushing it. All it takes is one uncolonized grain.

Two quick questions, with two photos.

First, I am assuming this is trich in this shoebox, and I should toss it immediately. I had a similar growth in another tub in a different room after a 4th small flush, but this is after flush 1, with all of the mushrooms coming off the clean end of the shoebox.

Second photo -- I have 2 agar plates that I'm cloning from a fruit that I cut into. Clear contam in one plate, the other looks clean. Can I cut that bad spot or two out, or is it best to just toss the effected plate?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely Trich =/ Keep it sealed and dispose of it outside if you can. the more air hits it, the more spores will travel.

As for the Agar Plates, do a transfer, however when you do the transfer put it through a cabin

Thank you! The lid on this cheap bin does not fit very tightly, so I've been counting on it getting at least some air just through the gaps. But it is still fully snapped on. I had read that you're supposed to keep it shut not-quite-airtight during colonization, then trigger fruiting by slightly dropping humidity and/or increasing oxygen. My plan was to unsnap the lid and set it on more loosely once it hit that point, which I guess it sounds like I can go ahead do now.

For sure you can use the already pre hydrated coir.  just give it a squeeze and make sure it doesn't need any more hydrating.

If you're at at field capacity you're definitely good to go..

Cron gets pallets of giant bags of prehydrated coir.
He just opens  and pours.  How  Lucky is he...

And sure bags will work.  I like shoe boxes
tho.  Perfect for a jar or two.

PF Tek question. For those that bottom water, when in the process do you bottom water, and how much water? How often?

Here is a good tek on bottom watering

Thank you!! Found what I need! I will wait till I see pins!
callmehippie said:
I like to just put enough to cover like barely even half an inch of the bottom of the cake.

Come back a couple hours later. If the water got absorbed.  add more. If not you can leave it for a day or so.

Just keep an eye on it don't let it sit in water for too long and get soft.

And you can just continue/repeat  the process throughout the PIN set.

Make sure those babies got whatever they need to drink just to influence them to grow to the best of their ability.

Do you bottom water only at pinning? Or do you keep going until harvest?
Thank you so much!!

if one wanted to do lipas tek to pasteruize wood pellets. could the faht ziplock tek be used? is it alright to add the prepped coir to that bag after letting it cool down?

this would be inoced with colonized gym WBS.
does that sound like something?

or would one be better off doing shoeboxes?
thanks heaps! i appreciate the help!

coir not necessary..

The hwfp and sawdust is what's being inoculated and doing the supplementing I belive.

Follow the tek exactly. Once you've got your wood pasteurized use some  spawn to inoculate it.  in your off to the races..

I havnt done this personally. I don't work with woodlvers or gourmets.

But I have had a few people who definitely have experience explain the process to me..and i pass that to you.:hatsoff:

Hey guys!

I have a harvesting question. Maybe I was rough when picking the mushrooms, I did the twist and pull way of picking to avoid leaving any tissue in the cake. Some came out pretty clean with just a very small amount of substrate attached to them, but most came out with a generous amount of coir. Mostly because they were so tight together, in clusters or just squished together that it was hard to do the twist part, so it turned into a mostly pull, butchering the surface quite noticeable. I do have craters scattered across the tub.

Is this an issue for the second flush?

In my mind my priority was to leave the cake clean, no residue whatsoever, in which I succeeded but at a cost.

Any input is appreciated.

Here is an example of how most of the clusters came out.

Lots of people scrape off old casings after a flush n apply new ones n I've left alone personally lwk if ur casing looks like Swiss cheese it might cause uneven flushes n whatnot so itl mess up canopys if not reapplying a new casing

(I've not tryed scraping old casing after a flush n applying a new one just read about it here

thanks for the answers!

i am going of this in the gymnopilus cult thread since that has such a beautiful canopy. ive seen mixed results on so many threads i looked through.

my issue is i cant get hard wood pellets. only available are softwood pellets (cedar) from confier trees. which i think they are growing from in the wild(?).

would that make sense to use?

ive seen people growing it from straight coir in that thread.
