Seems you missed the point, Trump thinks that because he can shake hands and have meaningless, somewhat friendly conversations with Putin or Kim Jong, and because he's the President of the US, Trump thinks he has some influence with those leaders. Trump is an idiot.

They are not our friends, nobody said otherwise. Trump admires dictators because he wants that kind of power, and he despises our allies because they know he's more of a thug than a leader.
