Is this contam? LC and agar
    #29658574 -

LC has been inoculated. Agar has not.

Sorry, but yes and yes.
If you inoculated the LC with spores, most likely contaminated.
If you haven't yet inoculated your agar and you have growth, most definitely contaminated.

How did you prepare your agar? So that possible failure points can be identified.

The agar looks bacterial. Likely insufficient sterilization.

Spotty plate is a good indicator of bad technique.

If it was mold or yeast yes. Bacteria is rarely airborne tho. Those might be yeast but usually yeast looks dry to me invitro.

I used to get bacterial satellites when I bumped my arm in the SAB :uhoh:

Are you sure they were bacteria? I guess if you were scattering skin cells everywhere when you bumped it maybe bacteria could hitch a ride there. But I've never had bacteria in that particular scenario myself.

Edit: these are the things I should really break the scope out for. Maybe one day I'll be proficient enough with it to do so.

I can't be 100% sure. But yes I would like scrape my arm against the SAB armhole going in

When I got patterns like that, it was from when I sprayed liquids into the sab.

It might come from not waiting long enough for the alcohol on my gloves to evaporate as well, I still pressume it's bacteria though, but again not sure, I'm sure it ain't from spraying because I always used my SAB dry.

That is a lot going on there, the diversity of species in there confounds the vector somewhat. I'm not sure i could say exactly what was going on there.

Yeah, op you gotta research about sterile techniques first and foremost

Uhm well that is because what you're looking at is a small portion of my pot with leftover agar I forgot about for a couple of days

I guess the big question for me on this one is were the plates no pour? I kinda assumed he was doing no pour but now I realize that was an assumption. Would be good if he could clarify that as if it was no pour then it's 99% likely insufficient sterilization and is bacteria. If he poured that so.ehow it could be a number of vectors; shitty technique, insufficient sterilization, or the cups were not sterile.

It's condiment cups, so he must have poured them.

Okay forgive my boomerness. I had no idea pouring condiment cups was common practice now. That shit is sus af to me, I would not even consider that a viable method. Are they at least sterilizing them beforehand?

Apologies again, I was out of my depth. Crazy how things change.
