Here's some APE on three plates enjoying itself on PDYA..Note the matt patches are external to the lid, not bacterial blooms, they're nice and clean G4's

May not be thinned out enough to show sectors yet... chances of isolation directly from clone or slim to none IME... got any pictures?

I got some advice the other day re condensation on the lids of my plates (can't remember which thread), but I did a couple as a test and I'm pleased with these condensation free plates. Also I left them sitting in my sab for 3 days and no contams showing yet, so I guess if they contam it'll be from me transfering to them.

looks great, it should be very easy to tell off colors (from contams or bruising) or the slimy texture of some bacterial colonies

Looks good, but take some transfers before to gets too close to the edges, 5pm through 8pm looks strong

Tough luck. Im still waiting on my APE swab.

Heres some of my first B+ transfers. Ive got some that look good but these plates had a lot of condensation that has settled on the edge. Can I use these on grain or do you think they will contaminate?

So, I am doing my first fooling around with AGAR! This is PE spores (those black globs are spores, promise, they were in my syringe), and got some minor growth at about 36 hours:


I didn't have the right materials for making the agar... well not exactly. I watched a video that only used AGAR-AGAR powder and water, so I didn't realize you need extra. I decided to use Potato Water (boiled mashed potatoes, then strained) and added about 10g of Molasses. I'm hoping it's good enough to do the trick. I cook a lot, so I felt like I could wing this recipe. I only made five plates though in case it doesn't work out.
