Love love love when this thread returns.  Another NE dude that has yet to find these but I still have hope.  I have a sloped beech/hemlock spot next to a river, gonna go check this weekend.

Forest creek with inclines … but not too steep is better … i don’t think they will be around rivers just like ovoids aren’t near forest creeks … I’m not sure though … dead rotten wet beech and birch … hemlocks around is good too but not necessary …

Washington Co., VA. ~3600-3800' elevation, temps mid-upper 70's daytime, located other single fruits, only one flush found on a short look around, all examples growing direct from litter pressed against decaying wood. located near water runoff in steep area. Right on time. Printed for posterity.

Local recent conditions, heavy, late afternoon rainfall followed by localized ambient temp drops into 70F's





for those asking, the wood they seem to prefer has to be in a specific state of decay, it should be dark and pull apart like a wet napkin with a light blonde color center. This indicates a specific state of decay.

Nice shots as always philocybe :boombox2:

Heading out this weekend to a spot I scoped out last year that looks promising...large American beech trees with dropped branches in a really wet/mossy area.  Also a lot of yellow birch and eastern hemlock around.  There are no current iNat observations in South Central/East PA though, so I'm keeping my expectations tempered

Looks like it still needs another week and maybe some more rain in my area before it really gets going. I managed to find a couple stragglers, some G. luteus and a few pluteus americana at least :cheers:

found some Galerina marginata(no pics), i usually find them when the caerulipes are gone.
i guess it's the end of the season here.
