You probaly DO have plenty of Northern Copperheads up there in Ohio, to tell ya the truth I wouldnt be to suprised to find a Timber Rattler up there-- I know there are LOADS of them in Virginia. As far as spiders goes, I am almost sure the blackwidow lives up there, and possibly the brown recluse(both very dangerous if bitten). Note that the poisonous salamanders are poisonous, not venomous... Big dif... If something is poisonous then it has to be injested or enter the body threw an orfice of some sort, like eyes or mouth(who eats salamanders anyways?). Venomous animals have someway of getting their toxins into the bloodstream, be it fangs, stingers, or nematocyst(jellyfish).

I hope you enjoyed my nature talk, and I hope you don't encounter anything life threating while shroom hunting

Peace
-Gumby

yes i live is a small town in ohio and we do have timber rattlers.

i have my best luck with luck findin caerulipes on hot days high 80's to mid 90's two to three days after a good rain. they prefer oak and maple wood, small rotted branches and fallen bark. sometimes they'll also show up on birch leaf litter. look in low areas wher rain water tends to saturates the ground. the bluing is deffinatel variable. some of the best i've eaten never turned blue. most of the time the blueing is more evident in the mycelium not the stem, hence the name bluefoot i suppose. eat em as soon as possible they loose a fair bit of potency when dried. fresh a good starting dose is 4-6 mushrooms. i picked some earlier today so i'll post some pics before i print em.

Hey psilocybian, I am from South Carolina as well, I was wondering if you have done any hunting in the Lake Murray area, near Irmo. I was wondering because now would be the ideal time for Caerulipes, given it rains soon. I'm at USC, so Lake Murray wouldn't be far. Dunno if its developed or not... Any thoughts? And what about Lake Greenwood? I read the bit about cubensis poppin up there. Would you happen to know if conditions are ideal for caerulipes?
