The below are hopefully the same as the last mushrooms i was trying to id with the help of Mr Mushroom(Hope fully Psilocybe caerulipes )
Any idears would be nice This one is growing straight out of a piece of dead Hazel in dense scrub Tree cover is hazel holly and elm Mushroom is sticky to the touch Mushroom smelling Blueing at the foot(which reminds me mr mushroom said it could be a blue foot) They seem to grow on there own rather than in clumps but that could be because its late in the autum here.

How does it not look active? Look at the blue bruising on the bottom.

They look like mutated P. cyanescens shrooms which are common in the British Isles. And Although P. caerulipes grows from Northern Florida to Maine, it is also common in Ohio, Michigan and in Ontario in the sourthern portion of that latter province.
Its season in Ohio is June and July and early August.
So It is probably impossinbble for it to be in England.

Have a shroomy day and yes that is the bluing od at the base of the stem where it was handled when picked.

i dont know about the bluing, the cap color on those does not look right for psilocybe species, should be more of a tan color rather than tan yellowish when drying. Just how it looks to me, i wouldnt eat them based on "bluing" at the base of the stem.

Looks like a Stropharia to me. The bluing is intriguing though. I didn't notice it on the pics of them in habitat.

Hi dont know if you saw the first post on this shroom and i cant find it to link it,so here are the first pictures. .jpg][image]/forums/thumbs/120802-3/18672-thumb_Shrooms_029[1].jpg[/image] the pictures at the top are all one mushroom and the pictures above this text are of another from a diffrent spot. But i would say there the same species. The tops were wet and sticky after heavy rain in all photos,in the picture below you can see a slight blueing befor picking. But this doesnt show up as much as it did in the first mushroom.Shame i didnt get a picture of it at the time ..And the stem higher up does not blue when crushed even after 3 hours so i'm not at all sure lol.But some one is going to look at the spore print for me and let me know.Below is photo of first said print. And a close up of the stem before picking. Thanks for your input on this [1][1].jpg][image]/forums/thumbs/120802-3/19559-thumb_Shrooms_035[1][1][1].jpg[/image]

That greening on one of the mushrooms caps dulled down to a tan the next day.And looked just like the second mushroom(todays) Both had 2 little white maggots with black heads crawling out during printing but these are the same i oftern find in fly agaric. But being new i dont know what these are or mean or how common they are.I find then in 2 out of 5 fly agaric roughley.Any one else?.

I'll dry both keep looking for more and await the results of the spore checks mr mushrooms hopefull going to do for me but na i found it hard to eat some Flammulina velutipes i picked the other day because im new to this lol.Well i say new but ive been eating liberty caps and fly agaric for 15 years but there easy to spot. The fact that there are others in the uk is like only 1 week old to me lol.So hense one week of looking into every square inch of my local wood lol. Edit just looking about and i must say they do look a bit like the ones youve posted in http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum3&Number=1107816&Forum=Forum3&Words=Psilocybe%20caerulipes&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=1&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=1099903&Search=true#Post1107816 mj.As in my work as a gardener in the locality i have seen others over the last 2 years and thought nothing of them. But still all will be cleared up soon i hope after the spores are looked at.Is this how most mushrooms can be identified for sure?or is it still open after that?newbie question
