Psilocybe caerulipes Question

Every fall I go out in search of the Psilocybe caerulipes species that are known to grow in Maine. This year so far, I have found plenty of the mushrooms that I believe to be caerulipes, but I am not actually sure. Every characteristic you've ever read about caerulipes is present in the mushrooms I have found (i.e. on decomposing deciduous wood, cap, gill, stem, and spore-print color.) The only characteristic that is not present is the blueing of the stem... No specimens I have collected so far blue, and for this fact I won't consume them, knowing that the might possibly not be the Psilocyve I am in search of. Is it possible that these could still be psilocybe and not bruise blue?

All pictures of caerulipes I've seen show the mushrooms buising blue.
You've probably found some type of Stropharia or Psathyrella. their print colors tend to be similar to Psilocybes.
I'd also say you're also looking for them too late. Everything I've read indicates that they grow in the summer.

I read at the Sputnik drug info zone that the season can be August through October. You're knowledge is greater than mine on this matter, and I'll not consume the mushrooms, but I am gonna keep looking.

P. caerulipes ggrows from late May to September. It is a summer mushroom on the east cost from Northern Georgia to Maine to Michigan, Ohio, WE#st Virginia and Ontario; Probably Pennsylvania.
Mj
It is now out of season for that species.

this is a 12 year old thread, If you are asking if Psilocybe caerulipes is still growing in Maine? The answer would be yes, use your search engine to do a little research. read about the habitat, time of year they grow and a description of the mushrooms your are seeking.
