Motor city.  Best movie of the year. Almost no talking in the movie but no in the theater cared it was just that good.

How to Train Your Dragon (2025) - is a retelling o the original 2010 animated version, by the same writer/director. So amazing that a perfect animated film has be re-rendered live action. If you have liked this franchise, go see! Or, if new, go try!

10/10. Brilliant.
Saw it at imax too, but not the biggest screen. I wanna go see it again at imax Melbourne we have the biggest screen in the southern hemisphere.

Absolutely incredible movie. All the characters, the entire plot, the crazy action sequences, the fighting scenes, the funny jokes, the acting and dialog, the cinematography, the 3D SFXs, and all the emotions! Theres even some X-Men characters in the movie. Hands down, one of the best Marvel movies Ive ever seen. Well fuckin' done Marvel and Disney. Well fuckin' done.

Just looked up his films, I haven't seen memento or tenet, and maybe one of the batman films.

Unrelated but I wanna rewatch LOTR and also watch for the first time The Hobbit. I would also like to read the books (my mum loves them)

The Odyssey was an 7.5 out of 10 for me.
But that's because I really liked the book.
I felt like he got given a lot of free passes in this telling of the story and that took away a lot of the complexity of the character.
Which is fine I guess. I don't think the American audience likes having a complex character they have to think about. They just want a boom boom movie with a happy ending.
From my perspective the movie managed to feel boring at parts. Three hours is a long commitment and I felt like there was too much downtime.
That said, I did almost get what I wanted when he finally came back. Then the director ruined catharsis. Which took the wind out of my sails.

The ending in the book was waaaay better.

Rose of Nevada is a fucking mind-blowing SF movie from last year. I cannot recommend it highly enough to fans of the deeply smart, passionate, & trippy as fuck.

Borderlands

They did a pretty good job on the set they did a pretty good job on the costumes.
The casting is wrong. They just put a bunch of names in here and they don't even give a crap if they look anything like their counterparts in the game at all. One person is 66 when the person they're supposed to be portraying is 20.
"i'm a bit old to be setting myself on fire for your amusement"🤦‍♂️
They even make jokes about it in the movie.

They tried to gentrify a messy chaotic violent video game.
They shaved down all the edges until we had a shapeless bland mass of nothing.
They took one of the coolest characters in the game and literally objectified her and infantilized her.
Literally reducing somebody who was self-sufficient into a crying "key" it's really disappointing. They just removed characters that had more right to be in the story than some of the ones that are main stage now. It's just all over the place wrong.

The main mistake is trying to take a crass violent video game and make it PG-13. I think some of the content was already done and then they decided to chop it so that they could make it PG-13 and we're left with an hour and a half of bland nonsense.

At least it all looks good for the most part.
But all the charm, the dirty jokes the gratuitous violence the actual things that made the game good are gone.

The best part of this movie was Jack Black as clap trap which felt like a match made in heaven. They didn't need to do any radical changes to the character because he was already like that in the video game.

Rabbit trap 6.7/10
Pretty chill but I wasn’t sure why the main characters kept assuming the fairy child’s gender as a young boy when the character was played by an adult woman.

Incident at loch ness. Werner Herzog attempt at comedy. Intitially I rated it a 6 but then later thought no that’s definitely a 7
