A Better Place

Great little independent film from 1997 with Kevin Smith as one of the producers...cool! Definitely worth checking out.
I'd give this 7.5/10

Yea I was surprised at how well film blended the genres of comedy and action together.

I liked it as well. Nice build-up. The ending was pretty good. Have you heard about the alternate one? Implying, to me, that she could've been just doing what she was programmed to do from the start.
Alicia Vikander, attractive, captured the vulnerability needed to make the movie work.
Domhnall Gleeson, son of Brendan Gleeson, can play so many different roles. I like him, too.

We Are Still Here - 7/10 - I enjoyed this movie, it was refreshing because I didn't know anyone in it, and that was nice. Lots of good horror movies can be found off the beaten path if one searches hard enough.
Also, much of the soundtrack was done by a band called the Wooden Indians, they're great so I founds some new music I like too.

Funny Games 8.6

There's a new American shot for shot remake with Naomi watts by the same director... I haven't seen it but the original movie was great very confrontational but german subtitles [image]
Quote:
Seen a decade ago, the movie’s hard-line critique of media violence and its transformation of human torture into a spectator sport might have seemed a tad reactionary. In 2008, it feels like a high-IQ smart bomb launched into the culture of commemorative Abu Ghraib snapshots, the endless slo-mo looping of the 9/11 attacks, and the use of odds-making vernacular to turn everything from the Iraq war to the presidential election into their own brand of funny games. -- Scott Foundas, from an interview with Haneke in the L.A. Weekly
Quote:
Maybe this is taking Haneke too seriously, but if he really means what he says he's attempting to do, he might well claim that fitting, healthy responses to the film would involve forms of protest and civil disobedience that... well, you'll have to figure out where to draw the line yourself. For me, free speech demands more free speech.

-------------------- Favorite entheogen experiences in descending order: 1)Combo of oral DMT + smoked Bufotenine 2)Amanita (urine drank twice) 3)Mushrooms > Achuma 16"+cid(still need higher dose Achuma)> Cid (still need high dose) 4)Morning Glory-HBWR (+cumin, cinnamon aldehyde adducts) > Methyl chavicol (need more activators) 5)Salvia (need to try quid)
All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental. Blessing.

I haven't seen Spring Breakers and hadn't planned on it, but maybe I should give it a shot.
Drive was badass. Loved the soundtrack too. That scene on the beach when he's in the mask haunted my dreams for a bit.
Fury Road was pretty badass too. One of the best sequels in years.
Also want to add that Fury Road is phenomenal while tripping. The plot is easy to follow and the colors are insane.

It's easily one of my favourite movies of all time (Spring Breakers). I can watch it over and over.

I finally watched Elvis and Nixon after picking it up and staring at the cover for a couple weeks. And I quite liked it! Elvis was quite the character apparently. (I'm too young to remember him) Example, he was directed before the meeting that there would be a Dr. Pepper and M&M's in the office, and they were for the President. First thing Elvis did was to snatch up the soda and a handful of M&M's. He was mf'in ELVIS after all, and he knew it.
