The Artifice Girl - 1/10 - The reviews and trailer made it sound like it was going to be groundbreaking....I thought it was awful.

Secret Headquarters  8/10

This was a pretty damn good movie! Spy Kids meets Iron Man with UFOs and Alien Tech mixed in! Some of the dialog was pretty bad/cheesy but overall, it was a great movie. The child actors were really good. Reese Witherspoon's daughter was in the movie too! I also didnt know she had a daughter. Pretty long movie too. With a nice ending. Definitely enjoyed the whole thing, even the super goofy parts!

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) 7/10

After the worse-than-worst 3rd sequel this one actually made a pretty good film. Plot makes sense, acting is believable and the directing is exciting. The new characters are not very smart but they sure make it easy for Michael to reak havoc. Music is scary and freaky, set design is better than in the first film. Writing is high quality, too.

Here's a good clip - it gives away the ending but you know he's just gonna get right back up in Halloween 5 and keep doing what he does best.

Hard Country(1981)- 7/10

Woooo-eeee! What a hootin', hollerin', good ol' honky tonk time! One ov the few Jan-Michael Vincent movies that escaped my viewing up until this point, or at least I think so(the only way to properly watch JMV movies is with copious amounts ov alky-hall after all). Well, it was predictable as shit after taco bell but it was still fun. Lots ov quotables and funny ass quips. Kim Bassinger's film debut.

Infinite  9.999/10

Very cool movie! Lots of wild action, great acting and amazing special effects. Like Cloud Atlas meets The Matrix. Warning: there is quite a bit of visceral graphic violence. But theres also a couple of Mega Baddies, so it kinda evens it out :cool2: Highly recommended!

Shrimp on the Barbie 8/10
This was uploaded to YouTube, and suggested to me when I was stoned.  I had not seen it before.  Starring Cheech Morin.  Such a simple, goofy plot.  I wouldn't call it a masterpiece by any standard; there's nothing about it that's really great.  It's just solid, stupid comedy.  I give this movie a high rating because all the characters are just over the top, good writing and acting, in my uneducated opinion.

Ive been wanting to see this movie for a looooong time. I thought it was great! One of my new favorite comedies! And the SFX was really well done. The whole movie was really well done. Only a couple awkward/annoying scenes and only a few weird dialog lines.  Lots of fun cameos too.  Super funny movie, was laughing my ass off  Overall, it was great! Best if watched high :yesnod:

Wow, this movie is incredible! The whole storyline, all the unique characters, the superb voice acting, the musical score, all the different settings,  elements and visual effects. Perfecto! Theres even some psychedelic and mystical scenes too. Such a well-done movie. Really impressed. Adapted from a novel sharing the same name, 'The Ascent Of Man': written & presented by Polish-British mathematician and philosopher, Jacob Bronowski - and, as filmed, produced, & initially broadcast by the BBC working together with Time-Life Films.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_Bronowski

Bronowski's series made a good impression on me, and, during my first go around with it - iirc - some 15-20 years ago - I think I might've binged all 13-parts of the documentary in one go.

Now, here I am rewatching Part 1 of 'Ascent' online.

*From the BBC's own website on -
'The Ascent of Man' & Jacob Bronowski.

Quote:

[BBC]

The first episode of The Ascent of Man was broadcast on 5 May 1973. The 13-part series, written and presented by Jacob Bronowski - was one of the landmarks of documentary television. The Ascent of Man was presented as a personal view of humanity's scientific achievement, exploring science, as Civilisation had explored art. Both series were commissioned by David Attenborough, Controller of BBC2, who later presented his own landmark series, Life on Earth.

Bronowski told the story thematically, with different programmes concentrating on subjects such as chemistry, agriculture or astronomy. His ability to explain complex ideas made him a winning television personality.

"These programmes", he said, "are about the making of creation - Man making mistakes, then seeing the right answers. Science is creative, not a mere mechanical practice". To aid his narrative Bronowski filmed in locations as diverse as the Great Rift Valley, Easter Island, Cambridge and Auschwitz.

Bronowski was just 66 when he died in 1974, the year after the first broadcast of The Ascent of Man. The scripts from the series were published in The Listener, and then gathered into a best-selling book. The book was recently reprinted with a foreword by Richard Dawkins and remains relevant today, despite the enormous developments in science and technology since it was written.

Also:

From the Youtube channel I found hosting the docu-series, unfortunately only 8/13 parts are watchable atm, as 5 of the 13-Chapters are currently missing, unavailable, or something like that - still:

Quote:

Volume 1 of Jacob Bronowski's epic examination of our rise from the apes and the development of civilisation. (from May 1973)

"Man's imagination, his reason, his emotional subtlety and toughness, make it possible for him not to accept the environment but to change it.  And that series of inventions, by which man from age to age has remade his environment, is a different kind of evolution - not biological but cultural evolution. I call that brilliant series of cultural peaks 'The Ascent of Man'."

Dr. Jacob Bronowski opens the programme at the Great Rift Valley of East Africa and traces the evolution of man's great gifts - foresight and imagination. He follows man from Africa through desert and Ice Age.

Chapters:

1. Shaper of the Landscape
2. The Rift Valley
3.Australopithecus
4. Physical Gifts
5. Precursors of Man
6.The Hunter
7. The Ice Age
8 Cave Art

By the way...did I almost forgot to mention Pink Floyd's music is officially featured throughout the docu-series?  Yepppp.

eg. 'Careful With That Axe Eugene' etc, etc.

Ha.  Works quite nicely with this trippy little series.  Love it:thumbup:

Anywho.  This is right up my alley.  Hope it is for some of you, too.

Volume # 1: ' L o w e r  T h a n  T h e  A n g e l s '

Here 'tis, although... if for some reason it is not, then don't fret - as you can still find it and watch simply by searching for the series name on youtube and other similar places online.
I noticed several other channels on YT alone with it still up.

Enjoi it or Ignore it!

Rating wise, I give it a solid AF (>) [8.75 / 10].

^That sounds AWESOME- definitely gonna get on it!

I'm dropping in to leave a personal 9/10 for:
RESSURECT DEAD: THE MYSTERY OF THE TOYNBEE TILER

Been years since I watched this one- and it was fucking great to see it again.

Set in Philly but stretching further as it goes, this totally intriguing and thoroughly satisfying documentary follows a few fanatics of "The Toynbee tiler" as they band together in an attempt to uncover the truth behind an Urban Mystery that has been hiding in plain sight...

There's conspiracy, mystery, twists & turns, camaraderie and a developing moral thread throughout.
Compelling from the start to the finish, it demanded my attention just as much as on the first watch- if not even more so due to picking up on parts I missed.
It's well made, paced good and the subject matter is one of those things that really expresses many interesting facets of being human.
TBH, this time around I seen a lot more about coincidence and synchronicity as it all unfolded that gave the whole watch a kind of mystic glow that I never really appreciated on my past viewing.
:trippinbawelz:

A thoroughly entertaining watch that I recommend to all on shroomery! :awesomenod:

SPOILER
Fucking hell, there's no shortage of amazing moments in the doc, but when Justin finds the fresh tile on a late night munchy trip the the Wawa, I lost my shit this time! HE JUST MISSED THE TILER.
Astronomical odds.
When he ran down the streets shouting "TOYNBEE IDEA! I BELIEVE IT! I BELIEVE THE TOYNBEE IDEA!" I was shouting "I BELIEVE TOYNBEE IDEA TOO!"  amazing. Then hanging out with the tile till 7am, Justin had his very own mystery to go full bore into, and it seemed integral to his life.
The prototile discovery was a huge moment and TV broadcast shit was wild as well, turns out he was REALLY trying to push that Toynbee idea!
The lifelong kinship Justin and the tiler both have with birds & general outcast nature was touching and I truly think he did encounter Severino on the bus that time but also that he 100% done the right thing in not approaching him.
Shout out to Justin Duerr, Jon Foy, Colin Smith, and Steve Weinik. As well as Severino Verna/ James Morasco, his neighbours and anyone who was a friend, rather than foe to Sevvy

FUCK THE CULT OF THE HELLION-RESSURECT DEAD ON PLANET JUPITER!

Beau is Afraid (2023) Ari Aster 6/10

This movie starts out great as Joachim Phoenix plays a neurotic dude living in what look like my neighborhood, all homeless junkies, crime, bodies in street. It had something i have never seen in a flim before, a fent nodder

I never sqaw one those of those guys then all of a sudden in 2020 they were everywhere, and now i see hundred a day just going to work. First time seeing one in a movie.

Anyway the film is 3 hours and that was way too long, it got senselessly weird in later part. Just weird for weird's sake and i have to say I didnt like it. Same guy who directed herediatry which was awesome, and Midsommar which was ok

Barbie      9.6/10

Wow! This movie really surprized me! I thought it was just gonna be goofy and silly, which is was, but it was so much more! Really well-written! And of course, the music was awesome. The whole storyline concept mixed with the trippy fantasy colors was Brillant! Even had some subtle psychedelic references! Got me in my feels so many times. Lots of surprises about the infamous toys too. Had a few famous movie references! Really glad I saw it Sunday for National Cinema Day. I bet it will win some Awards. Wonderful, Thoughtful and Creative ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’–

Barbie - Pretty dang good. Was not expecting anything like it turned out. Might have suffered from too many plotlines (the exec stuff could have been left out, despite some good jokes). And of course the Kens stole the show.
