You should mist mate, those look pretty dry. I keep mine shiny/ jelly looking at all times from pins to harvest. When they dry out they end up like thin little dicks ime.

Cool. Will do. I live in a really dry climate so that makes sense.

Can you post up a picture from the top of the tub? What lighting are they under? The morphology is interesting with the small caps. What are you looking at to call aborting?

I'm stuck waiting out the summer heat before I can get more semps going, I really liked growing them so they'll be the main thing this fall/winter.

I still haven't tried mine and I had some concerns about how strong they'll be, but a buddy tried out a single 250 mg capsule so far and said that he wanted something relaxing to cap off the day but got in deeper than expected. Not quite a full on trip, but 2 caps will probably get you there. And no stomach discomfort, probably at least in part due to taking so much less compared to regular cubes.

I'm trying to focus on them too. Tried to get them going last year and didn't have too much luck, but did get a solid flush eventually. Was also somewhat in my head about trying them, but was very curious after reading folk's experiences.

I wrote out a report here but it ended up super long and I know there is a better place to post trip reports so I removed it from this post. Here is the trip report in my journal if ya wanna read it.

Anyway, that was the only time I've tried them so far and yearn to check the math. Part of the reason I'm getting going again is to focus on semperviva and try and figure them out

Same lights I have grown all my cubes under - just some low intensity grow lights nothing crazy.

The “aborts” are the ones that have darkened and stopped growing

This looks sick to me. It's my first semp tub so who knows, but looks bacterial AF to me. Which is weird because my jars had zero skipped grains.

I'd like to set up a tent for subtrop and pans.  what are their differences in preferences?  or would a JCM or dreamer tub be worth setting up for some reason other than gnats?  cleaning out the grow tent and space and seasonally not-growing  seems like a good option if gnats get too bad.  I
I have plenty of old monotubs, but am I right to think they'd probably be happier in a tent?

You can do a far quicker dry oven sterilize

Turkey / Lasagna trays with dry vermiculite, peatmoss etc.  Thick foil cover pinched all around

275-300+ kills pretty much everything in short order

Then hydrate to field capacity whenever with boiling water

I haven’t done anything this year I think, I’ve been very busy and got into meditation, which for me ends up being half a trip most of the times I do it anyway.

I’ll definitely try them out at some point though, your experience seems interesting and I think they’ll be gentler on the body compared to cubes.

I'm about to set up a martha and hope to fruit subtrops in that.  I have about 22 quart jars of clean looking spawn that are 5 and 7 months old now.  only 6 of them look dry.  I tried to make a big batch of gummies with a couple jars of  this spawn, but they were inactive.  I probably let the tea sit for too long and oxidize, i'm thinking, but i've been intimidated to try another batch.

I'm guessing gummies would be a different experience, (more like an extract, not as good for a deep high dose experience) anyway... this is a tangent but i'm curious how they compare to fruits...  I think i'm after more fruits, though i'd like to try one successful batch of grain tea gummies.

So these jars I have were from spores on agar, and I was thinking it would be good to get a clonal culture to fruit out in the martha.  I was thinking of top fruiting jars or making a little tub grow to get fruits to clone, but I just checked on my jars and saw this.

Two of the jars have pins and fruits invitro.  there was a group of 6 jars sitting in the corner somewhat near a window by a dehydrator that occasionally was used, putting out heat.  the two jars that are fruiting invitro were there.

other jars looked like this

and these two had more of a skin forming

I want to open a jar with fruits in front of the flow hood and clone it, but they're pretty inaccessable, although they should be sterile in there...

it looks like I found a fruit to clone...  but I might need to harvest the whole jar at that point... I think I just realized I should just dehydrate that jar and make gummies with it, and fruit the others.  how many jars to save for gummies I guess is the question now.  and should the potency be fine if I just do the extraction in one day, without letting it sit in the fridge overnight mid-reduction like last time?

Most jars, if not all pictured, are on sorgham (milo)  some are on Rye, those are the older and dryer looking ones, maybe those would be the ones I'd choose to make gummies with, and fruit the more lively looking jars

Others have spawned month old jars with success and I would think that if you can break and shake the jars the fruits should stay intact, either way, hope you share how it goes.

These are two MS grows from different plates, oddly the darker caps are almost 2 weeks younger. Getting close to harvest on the darker ones?

We're having triple digit high temps ATM, I don't think it's semps favorite.

Yeah my culture don't like anything over 24°C.

I always let my subtrops stay in the tub as long as possible, it's usually around a month from pins to harvest.

so finally got some fruits

but tell me what's happening here... I fucked up and made plain grain cakes, wedge inocculated  when I tried to birth them they nearly crumbled. I knew I fucked up but rolled in verm and hoped for best. some wouldn't birth and or looked bacterial. thought they were lost but put a verm layer on anyway.  lo and behold,  the baccy ones in jars fruited, the birthed cakes have not.

what's going on?

anyway some progress,  some fruits. the future looks bright! onward!

So let’s start with congratulations for fruits.

Then you can explain what a plain grain cake that gets birthed is. Unless I’m the only one that doesn’t know?
Top fruiting jars tend to fruit faster than birthed jars for me. I assume energy being directed toward air, light and moisture.
