What's the setup and substrate?

Yeah presumably Lentinus Squarrosulus(?) I think, but honestly all things considered, at least this showed me that if I spend 6+ months doing agar and grain transfers to work genetics, I can apparently get them good enough for a wood lover to grow pretty healthily on manure😂

Thanks, what is your fruiting setup?

Gonna pick my aborts and remist then just leave it alone. Got a few more trays and hoping to get some fruits!

Nth special. Tent 80-95% low co2 the lowest the better.

It depends on the species of Panaelous and, above all, on the season. Over the past five years, I've experimented with quite a few different things and ended up back at the beginning. In other words, the most important factors are clean spawn and proper pasteurization

Cross posting some info from the advanced mycology thread.

According to the microscopy keys, this is a cambo.

And this is a cyan.

But this is two different mature fruit bodies from the same tray.  One showing thin walled metuloids and one showing thick walls.

And some additional context, the available ITS sequences for cambos group with cyanescens.  They share habitat.  And they cross breed very easily.

I don't think cambos are a species.  But a metuloid expression.

Put that bloody box with water and a heater under the mushroom tray and let the air circulate naturally😁 Whether it’s a box or a tent doesn’t matter — that’s the key point.

I just got space in my dreamer so might as well put it there. Gonna have to build a new one soon.

I'm hoping to have trays in bags going when I'm out of space

These are cyans expressing with both thin and thick walled metuloids? Do "cambos" also have both?

Cambos are always thin walled and cyanescens always thicker, at least at maturity.  According to the microscopy keys.  This is the main difference between them.

https://files.shroomery.org/attachments/8599316-Gerhardt%20Copelandia%20Section%20in%20English.pdf

There's a bunch of drawings showing the various types from back in the day.

But now we have sequenced at least two cambo collections; Sandoz and one Pollock found in Columbia.

And we can see they cluster with the cyanescens.

And Komodo Island has been crossed with cyanescens.  It was also found near a cyan patch.

I think back in the day they never tried to breed them, and didn't have access to sequencing.  So gave them two different labels.

Pollocks cambo is here and you can see that this paper already calls them cyanescens (NBRC 30222).

https://imafungus.pensoft.net/article/167329/

I imagine some specimens may favor one expression over the other.  But I think it's more like poodles and chihuahuas, instead of poodles and coyotes.

Or the short version...

I think it's unlikely they're different species given all the evidence and my observations from the tray displaying both metuloid types this week.

I decided to recase it. I added a very thin casing layer ( all the pasteurised casing I had left)

Im using ez dial monotub with a few extra holes. I opened up a couple extra holes now. I also have a fan in the room not pointing at the tub running on low for 3 minutes every hour just to have some more fae.

You think its gonna be enough? I can also increase how long the fan stays on but im worried it will dry the tub

Just to add some data points. I grow them in tubs with more holes. Takes some dialing in for your setting but it can be done without foggers and fans. Maybe not as well as a dreamer, tent or other more complex set ups, but doable.

Pins!

Day 7

Day 11

Small caps on an even pin set, if a bit sparse. Opened a couple of low middle holes on the long sides in hopes of improving the cap size for prints. Likely too late to help with this flush. They also did not get any misting for the last three days due to traveling.

Day 13

Harvest 1. Small caps.

Day 19

Harvest 2 with larger caps for printing.

Day 20

Heading for flush three.

Day 25

One tray got the green. I left the house at 80f for several days which didn't help. I think the unusual expression was caused by the contam but was interesting enough for a bunch of pictures. Composted the green tray and will keep an eye on the other.

Day 28

Flush 4 inbound.

Day 30

When I returned they looked ready to print so I obliged them.

Dark after 12 hours so started another round.

Day 11

Liking this pin set. Would be happier with larger caps. Opened middle low holes on the long sides. No misting for the last three days due to travel. Also wondering about the exploding stipes.

Day 13

1st flush harvest.

Day 19

2nd flush harvest with better caps for printing.

Day 20

Heading for 3rd.

Day 25

Left the house thermostat on 80f while traveling and came back to some stressed fruits. Harvested, misted and sent back to work.
