Yeah, pasteurizing coir alone isn't really a big deal. Any temp is fine. If boiling was gonna kill stuff, it's dead. Whatever's in the tap water, you were going to mist anyway.

I still take prints, swabs and sometimes save some dried grains (not to mention the cupboards full of old plates). Just in case. I also just stick some cultures into cryo-vial stasis if I get overwhelmed with too many at once or need to take a break and the culture is not pristine yet. Always, belt and suspenders.

I save the LI tek for stuff that I am willing to commit some resources to, because they are good and clean and have proven themselves to be worthy for one reason or another.

I use sterile water stasis LI for both active and gourmets. This tek uses a master and an inoculation sample for each culture to allow for nearly endless renewal before senescence.

It costs a bit more in supplies and space, but doesn't require refrigeration for extremely reliable long term storage and quick access to all of your genetics.
