I just sent cubensis grain spawn to bulk. The room I grow in is not being heated anymore, I usually grow in the winter when my wood stove is growing and the room is warmer. Now the room is on average 17 or 18 c (62-64f) is this too cold for it to colonize the bulk substrate?

If you have agar that is colonized with cube mycelium, then it goes into the fridge to preserve it (because there might be a few weeks until you take the plate out), then you decide to put it on a new agar dish to grow it out, will it not colonize the new plate as quickly? Or, is it going to be roughly the same rate of colonization (compared to a warm plate to a warm plate)?

Are there any storage tips or a thread that covers what happens if you put colonized agar in the fridge?

About the same. It doesn't go dormant or stay cold. Often it will be eager for new digs and colonize even faster the first dish...

Been bucket tekking some oysters with pasteurised sugarcane mulch and it's gone reasonably well. The yields have been nothing crazy, bit smaller than I'd like.

Want to up my game so I've ordered a pressure cooker with the intention of sterilising some more nutritious bulk substrate e.g. hardwood + (bran/soy hulls, whatever I can find).

For a sterilised nutritious substrate like this, do I need to keep the bucket sterile throughout colonisation? Is sterilising the substrate pre-inoculation sufficient? Obviously I will clean the bucket with isopropyl but I don't have a flow hood or anything

It’s generally compost that has already been used to grow button mushrooms, it might work if it has a good consistency, but would probably require pasteurization for best results.  Seems like a hassle for cubes.

Generally, yes, you want to keep the substrate in a filter patch bag until full colonization, and inoculate it in a SAB or in front of a ffu/fh.  You likely won’t be able to keep it sterile in a bucket.  Oysters are pretty aggressive though, you can sometimes get away with imperfect techniques with them.

Don't do it. Make one. They're not worth it. I got gifted one and used it once. It defeats the purpose of a SAB.

I feel like I remember seeing a tek somewhere for instapot corn around but can’t find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a instapot corn tek lol? I usually use brown rice but I wanna save the rice water for agar because I had amazing growth with rice water and corn syrup. I was going to use that to maybe knock up a jar or two while I wait on the rest of my plates.

17-18C is fine, even tho this species is tropical and fruits grow in temps between 25-40C the organism itself doesnt live above the soil where temps are this high, it lives inside the soil where temps are probably 15-20C, it might grow a little slower at 15 then at 25 but it will grow, its not harmful.

I'm gonna fire this badboy up for the first time today, is there anything I should keep in mind except cleaning it, making sure everything is correctly assembled and not overheating it?
