The batteries in ev's don't last 20+ years like a fuel vehicle. Repairs are a nightmare on ev vehicles.

Yeah, and repairs are a nightmare on modern ICE vehicles anyway. Your ass ain't fixing the modern proprietary electronics, and some cars use proprietary screws. Not to mention that the average car now costs like 40k, whereas there's a couple Chinese EVs that are going for 7500.

Gas cars dont last 20+ years without thousands and thousands of dollars of maintenance and parts...
Swapping a new battery once a decade sounds like a fair trade for oil changes every 6 months.

Will not argue it - outside looking in, China's EVs seem to be significantly ahead of most US automakers. However, that does not mean that local EVs arent worth owning compared to gas cars. A Tesla is competitive even in Chinese markets, and even though they seem very appealing, id rather have a Tesla over a BYD or Xiaomi without tariff because if shit goes wrong i need to be able to take it to my local dealer to get it fixed haha.

Significantly faster - however, charging infrastructure is pretty insane locally here too. You can get 150-200 miles in a 15 minute charge at a supercharger, and that time is getting lower and lower. Also, a lot of people charge at home when they land for the day, and wake up with a full charge again... in many ways, cars are getting to the point where they have enough range that people need to worry about charging away from home less and less.

As an EV owner of over 10 years - and part of that comes with networking with other EV owners - I can say that repairs on EVs are generally non-existent. I had a few warrant covered replacements (electrical housing, and a cracked nut) on my car which put me out $100 (deductible). Beyond that the only thing ive had to do in 10 years is replace my cabin air filter.

The battery - My current car is 8 years old, and I have 95% battery capacity. I have heard that EVs tend to scale up in terms of battery life, so the larger KwH batteries last longer. Also the chemisty is much better than that of early EVs. I think most people expect to get 150-200k miles before they start thinking about replacement of their battery, and by then they typically just get a new car. But if you did want to replace your battery, for my car it would cost around $4000. Not a bad deal after 150K miles.

The lithium battery pack in my Prius lasted 18 years. I had to replace the 12v lead acid battery a couple times.

My view is a bit more cynical:

Republican leadership (especially MAGA) promises benefits for you by operating in a less ethical manner.
Democratic leadership is more boring because doing what's right means less "lively shit" for you.

For example, do republicans really not believe in climate science, or is it an inconvenient truth?

Of course in the trenches it is not so black and white as this.
