Re: The Official Spawn Envy (aka SPORN) Thread [Re: Agar Wedge] * 1

I felt like a real douche nozzle some weeks ago I thought someone's whispy mycelium was pin mold. Didn't really see how much more organized it was than a pin mold cluster, but in my defense it wasn't a great pic. I think I do better looking at the stuff in person.

Not your fault, you are just trying to be helpful with the photos provided :mushroom2::hug:

Edit: I cant count on three hands the number of "how's it look" questions paired with a blurry photo of mycelium :hehehe:

2 jars inoculated with LC made from a spore syringe:

2 jars inoculated with agar T3 from the same LC like above:

How does it look to you?

Doesn't look like sporn, that's for sure.

Upload high quality photos from behind, the glass texture makes it look like your spawn has water beads inside of it, indicating a bacterial infection

I've been watching people's Charlie Brown grows and it's really making me want to get on that train

Golden Envy spawn four days after inoculating. Gonna check back in a few days to see if it's ready to break and shake.

I never say "that's mold" unless I'm sure. I don't want someone to throw out a good culture because of a comment. That's more of a Reddit thing than a Shroomery thing. haha

Got a link to the picture?

People go on and on about how "Rhizo is no better than wispy mycelium"

But I will say this: with rhizo, it's a lot easier to tell if it's mold or not. At least for me since I've never seen mold be rhizo, and a lot of tomentose (fluffy) mycelium that's hard to discern from mold.

Pic tax, x7x+ rhizo trying to climb out of the agar plate.

I did have a 20 pound bag of birdseed nearby, my half-joke (but half not) is that the mycelium could smell it and was trying to get to it.

Hope the photos are better this time:
This jar is from LC is slowing down or maybe stopped?:

This is my agar jar (don’t know what to think about it):

Also I inoculated a bag with agar and one with LC.

LC:

Agar:

Both jars were inoculated 21 days ago, and the bags 7 days ago.

I could try to find it it was probably a.monthbor two ago. I'm usually really good about not saying anything that sounds absolute. "To me it looks like", "from what I'm seeing", "wait for a TC".

Looks bacterial. See the moisture and the uncolonized areas? The moisture is caused by heat from bacteria causing condensation
