Penis Envy, Huautla tips.........

Has anyone who's had experience with the Penis Envy or Huautla strains got any info or tips on what substrates or spawns they like best? Also is 50/50 the best casing, or is there something better? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You won't be successful growing Penis Envy, they orginate from very cold regions with specific weather conditions, it would be nearly impossible to mimic such conditions...

I disagree, My PE was doing well before it contammed:



I have 2 more jars almost 100% colonized. Colonization is very rhizomorphic.

a friend and his pet alligator are gonna innoc wbs with penis envy tonight...they couldnt find anything about growing it on the boards...

will it grow? anything "special" doing wbs to straw/dung and 50/50 casing...

sorry to post ho.

ps. theyve also got malabars to innoc tonight...tips there?

eastcoastE- just do as dank420 says, follow a cubie tek to the T and you should do fine.

The fairies who dropped these PE's on my doorstep had success with them, just didn't give a lot of strain-specific info. I'm acquainted with some teks, but also that some strains favor certain substrates, teks, etc. Just curious if anyone had better luck with any particular method on the envies. Thanks to all who offered advice!!! Any info regarding the same issues with Huatlas would also be greatly appreciated.

As said, any Cubensis substrate will work fine. But, since you want the best, use dung or straw (or perhaps a mixture). Either a Coir or Peat based casing layer will be fine (be sure to buffer peat). Just follow the Tek for whatever substrate you choose.

huatlas are no different from other cubes. Slow colonizers, but once you case they catch right up with everything else. They grow pretty tall and skinny with small caps. The guy that told me all this says its his favorite strain, and said they don't loose too much mass when drying.

It originates from the Amazon it was actually brought here by I think McKenna and then they took like a mutant Amazonian and they kept selectively recloning and stuff to get the unusual characteristics of the PE
