Which are your favorite exotics (trip, cultivating, aesthetics,  etc)

Definitely section zapotecorum species like zapotecorum..

subtropicalis..

ingeli..

Each one is different in effect. Especially subtropicalis lol, but very much the same when it comes to cultivation. The entire section fruits from grains very well and doesn't need to be overthought. Which is easy to do with exotics.

Rhodiola rosea has woken up and started to grow.

Transplanted my Bursera (copal) trees into new soil and removed the dried and dead feeder roots. This B. odorata had some big tuber roots squished up in the small pot it was in.

Germinating some of the seeds from my plants from over the last two or three seasons. Pretty good germ rates, and these B. microphylla seeds seem to have quite a few that are polyembryonic!

More cordyceps

The caps in the top pic are so cool!!

@JW123- Thanks, I've been trying to dial them in more and running a bunch lately. I do feel a lot of the battle with cordyceps is having good genetics and fresh cultures to work with.

I tried them a couple of years ago without much success. Maybe I will give them another go once I finish the gourmet/medicinals I am running now.

I would recommend getting cultures from either Ryan at Terrestrial fungi or Jeff at Appalachiangold, especially if you're in the US. Those guys have put a ton of work into their breeding projects, and I've had good results from both so far. There's cheaper options, but I'd question quality. It's not as easy as expanding an LC and reselling it the way you can with a lot of other species.

From what I understand, a lot of cultures fruit poorly, and Cordyceps mycelium also starts senescence much faster than most fungus. So it's a good amount of work keeping it all going properly, and info on some of that is pretty scarce/secret sauce.

The way I understand cordys is they are unstable in their dikaryotic form and easily revert to monokaryons. They fruit poorly once they've reverted but you can mix two compatible monokaryotic strains together to get a dikaryon again.

There are two mating types called mat1 and mat2, a successful pairing needs both types. Mixing two mat1s together won't produce a dikaryon. So you can just combine two strains on one dish and see what the resulting fruits look like. you have a 50:50 chance of getting a compatible pair. The more cultures you have available the more successful pairings you can make.

Once you find a successful pair you can combine the parents together again and again anytime you need to refresh the strain.
