Bunch of clear pins with caps starting to show up after misting frequency was increased. This forum saved this harvest from blobbing for sure.

What to do after this harvest? Is dunking in boiled and cooled water worth the risk or should i just mist for 2nd flush?

Regular tap water is fine

What causes you to say this isn't a legit flow hood? I would hope to understand for the future and to ask for a refund .

Not trying to speak for Piggy, but iirc you posted a pic right? That filter didn't look like it was designed for laminar flow. Apart from what size of particles it does or doesn't filter out, it will produce turbulent flow instead of laminar flow.

No flow at all (in a SAB) is better than turbulence.

T'was bone dry few days ago lol I was still thinking in cannabis terms where excess moisture = Botrytis mold.

Anyhow hopefully dunking goes ok.

Morning all! Hope you all had a great holiday! Was away for a few days and came home to this in the corner of my shoebox of Bluey Vuitton. I know these are a slow grower abd I’m seeing a few pins, surface conditions loook good but  wondering what this could be? It’s almost like a solidified water or gel. 1:2 grain to coir, properly at FC, spawned 27 days ago. Grain jar was clean and smelled fresh. 1st pic is what I’m questioning. The next two are surface and pins.

Its bacteria that grew in a pool of water.

Thats the main reason we dont want moisture pooling on the surface.

It shouldn't effect the yield, idk what kind of bacteria it is, but usually when I see it, its not a precursor to mold

So a little more FAE? And should I leave that pool alone? Or think I can use a syringe to suck it up?

Quick question for all you more experienced people

I recently switched my agar recipe to grain water agar. TTBVI didn’t like the lme agar was the reason.

But now all my growth looks different for regular cubes. It’s still growing  and looks normal when I send it to grain, but on the plates the mycelium is clear.

The one dated 12/13 is grain water agar, the one dated 12/3 is lme agar.

Hard to see in the pics, but it still has good growth.

Anyone experienced this?

I wouldnt bother with it personally, but id definitely not use a syringe.

Maybe a paper towel or a spoon

Ive never used water agar. But it makes sense to me that cubes would grow thin on it.

Only time I've ever seen that I ditched the culture so I couldn't say

Can I do a type of bucket tek for potting soil?

Can I microwave the potting soil fast? I get some soil fleas or gnats that show up, usually I see just 1 per tray but they kind of gross me out because I don't want them getting in the carpet. Not sure if they could really live without soil though but still.

Is it possible to do a steam cycle on potting soil like with PF tek? Some of my trays where I broke up cakes into potting soil have a very heavy blueing going on, not sure what it is. And the random flea/gnat.

Who told you to use soil and why?

Nobody told him to. He doesn’t listen to any advice, he just does what he wants.

:whathesaid:

We’ve pointed him to the pan cake TEK over a dozen times already.  He’s just a troll account.

:whathesaid:

That is not a sufficient filter and it’s not designed to provide laminar flow.  It will grab particles in its wake and whip them about.  It also lacks the power to provide a large clean space.

A still air box will provide a much larger and much cleaner work space.

If you want to understand why that lil expensive contraption isn’t a flow hood, google “how does laminar air flow work?”

You don't need to boil the water, you can just dunk in tap if you want.

Congrats on your shrooms! :mushroom2:

Personally I would go all in on Dreamers.
They aren’t that expensive to build and in my experience are far superior to just straight up monos (I use beefs too).

To be honest however, small monos like beefs have given me bigger fruits as opposed to running shoeboxes in the dreamer, and I think a mix of both is optimal.
Dreamers are fucking great for exotics.

I’m in the same position as FamiliarFinding384 and was leaning towards either a martha or JCM chambers. You convinced me to go for Dreamer tubs instead, and I just ordered the first parts! Thanks! :dancer:

Anyone tried deer corn as grain? I was reading it needs a 72 hour soak but I saw a 50lb bag for $7 its so cheap I was thinking about giving it a try. But then I would need to buy more buckets to do it daily they $5 each.

I was doing 4 jars a day with WBS but ran out of jars Ball is too expensive like $19 for a case and the Walmart brand always smells like bacteria it is fine after a PC though I just dont like it the box smells and the inside of the jar too they must make them in a dirty factory or something probably in a third world country.

I’ll try the paper towel route, because it’s bothering me. Other than that the tub I feel looks good. I know these guys are slow.
