A few days ago I was out hunting deer.  The way I do it I'm always very slowly stalking through the woods and edges of fields.  I came to a small clearing and stood there watching the wind gently move things around.  Suddenly a gust came in and caused an updraft that made the big leaf maple leaves catch and spiral upward dancing in the wind.  It felt good, and I felt I was a part of it without interrupting.  I startled myself by saying out loud "The world is beautiful and I am a part of it."

Slowing down to find peace in the mundane is so important.  I sat on a log and watched a pacific wren fret about its business completely unconcerned with my presence.  I watched water eddy behind a rock in a stream and the leaves that floated there like vessels seeking a port.  I felt the coolness of the rain on my face.

All of these experiences can exist outside of time and bring peace and wholeness to you.  There's wonder and beauty all around, you just have to quiet your mind long enough to be present for it.

Every sunday morning for the last handful of years. I know he's going somewhere interesting, and he refuses to tell me where.

There's a snail who is VERY good at partying when I'm not around. I wanna be friends with them, but they're content to explore my kitchen when I'm balls-deep in a REM cycle. I think they can sense it somehow 😂

Not snails but I write poetry for the insects.  The bees and their hexagonal sororities.  Ants and their sisterhoods.  I used to practice compassion and restraint for the mosquitos in prison, but sadly I'm back to smashing them rather than gently shooing them away.

And thanks for sharing your mindfulness story   I was thinking, this is very Zen as I was reading it.  And then you said, mindfulness

I also don't want kids. My sister once told our friend that my midlife crisis would be finding out that I'm pregnant. She is right. But every time I tell someone I don't want kids, they tell me that my mind will change once I have one. No. My mind will not change and I do not want to have one to find out. One of the worst sounds in the world to me is a baby's cry. Sorry if that's harsh for anyone.

This! It makes my ass itch whenever people try to make women believe they're defective for not wanting to have children. It almost cheapens the weight of the undertaking that is pregnancy(extremely hard on the body, mind and spirit), childbirth (likewise, with the fun added bonus of complication risk), and motherhood (don't even get me fucking started). It's perfectly understandable to not want to do all of that. Only the women who are fully dedicated to the entire undertaking should want that. Now we've got all these Great Replacement jokers bitching about a "birth rate crisis"...

Okay, rant over. But yeah, anyone who tries to make you feel like you're somehow abnormal or wrong or just *traumatized* for enjoying your life as an unpartnered woman without kids is a PUNK and a JERK and I will fight them if you want <3

I hope you dont feel like i was trying to put you in a box or paint you in some way. I was more speaking on my experience with self isolation than trying to say how you should live your life. I spend a lot of time seeking beauty in nature like piggy described, and as wonderfully peaceful and calming it is, I cant help but wish I had someone next to me experiencing the bliss I cultivate, and the killer meals I make.

Dexter.

He's got a prickly attitude and loves to murder insects.

But he's just so darn cute.  Especially when he's murdering insects.

Srry. You guys are all talking  insects.

Reminded me to go feed him.

Oh no, I most certainly didn't think you had any negative intentions. I think you're a good dude so you don't have to worry about that. I'm more like you, too. I'm very much a nature person, and I won't lie, I do sometimes wish that I had someone to share the sunrise/sunset (my absolute favorite) with when I see it. But man, I also love seeing it alone in my own thoughts and I think I love that more than sharing it.

Doesn't have to be all or nothing. Im similar to piggy in the way that I need someone who is able to respect my alone time. Been single for most of a decade and before that there was a bit of codependency from my partners. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth especially after my most recent ex told me I was just a rebound. Kindof a big reason when I build a relationship it will likely fall somewhere under the poly umbrella as theres lots of parts of life I want to go through on my own

im someone who requires an uncommon amount of alone time.  You can always tell a loner... they have skills that can only be honed alone.  i can whistle like a bird, for example.

It's a slippery slope and it's not always fair to demand so much solitude from a lover. I'm trying to learn to be... less cold

Unfortunately your past seems to define you no matter what the present tells you.  I think alone time is even more important when you are dealing with traumas of the past, some say otherwise but in light of how the world and people in this world act, I choose solidarity.  I am married and love my life and love her with my whole being.  Stepping into your own world is a whole new level.

Shit! Sorry yall, just kinda in that type of mood lately and the conversation kinda triggered me

I’ll back out with my negativity
