Honestly someone gave me a big box of it for free and I'm super cheap, so it's what I'm using.  Works great though

Ty Kloakk.  I've already rated you, or I'd do it again.

I'll try to decompress from the day.

And I do appreciate the rating, it's just that I would appreciate it more if you stick around, it seems that you have a lot to contribute, but, like me, you've had a ruff welcome to this forum. And I get it, but try to see it from they're perspective.

They deal with newcomers every day, and a lot of them ain't going to stick around for the long run. See, I am at that point where fruits is whatever, I have shrooms that I'll probably have to discard at some point. Still, I am addicted to the hobby and more so, the community.

Some people, are all about teaching, and they are rare and needed, but they don't have the time to spoon feed every noob. So they say what's up and move along. That is alright and necessary for the sake of getting as many new growers to succeed as possible.

This is not just a hobby(for some of us) it's a life style. And with that comes a responsibility. Now, if you are just here for one trip, that is okay, and I for one will not judged you, and I'll do my noob best to help. What I really want though is for you to trust us when we say we want to help, help you grow what you need or want.

Cuz yo, life is fleeting, and most of us are hardly dealing with it, but mushrooms keeps us grounded. You know, fingers through soil kind of grounded.

I'm so desperate for a connection with other human beings that I'll disregard morals even, just be kind and share the love. I got the ruff love in the beginning as well, but dude, I have some great grows thanks to it..

So I guess it is all about what you want, shrooms for a trip or a trip with us while eating shrooms

What's up  mush cult family. It's been almost 2 weeks since we fertilized our donor eggs. A week ago on Wednesday we did the transfer.

We're not supposed to get a blood test for another 6 days to confirm if it worked.

So I was woken up out of bed this morning by my wife running in the room screaming. I mean like legit screaming. I Jumped up grabbed my pistol and said what's wrong...  she laughed told me to put the gun down. and said look!

Now all I got to do is not drive myself crazy for the next 6 days until we get it confirmed.

Ps. If I wanted to start a thread detailing this very long hard journey we are on and have been on for the past 4 years.  where would I do that? The pub?

I know it help us out a lot to read about other people struggling with the same things. Maybe I can pay that forward for somebody else is my thought.

Right on, broski! Congrats!

Congrats CMH!

Well said Kloakk.

The easiest way to fit in when new is to just accept that you have a lot to learn. There is a huge gulf of knowledge between reading guides and getting canopies.

I can tell someone how to grow in a 5 minute conversation, but to actually do it with consistent success takes dozens of little skills.

My hatred for parafilm revolves entirely around the fact that when I try to tear it of it sometimes sends my transfer flying around the plate.

Weeeeell, you are doing it wrong. You want to cut it before use.

55mm and 90mm pre cut parafilm

Lol

I think y'all may have misunderstood it sounds like he's saying after he is finished using it to wrap the plate.. not that he's trying to rip it from the roll itself. when he reaches the end of stretching it he then continues to stretch until it rips off and sticks nice to the plate. And in this process because of the tension and force it takes to do the pull and rip his hand jerks jerking the plate sending his transfer flying.

The funny thing is I do the same thing with my folded and half thicker pieces cuz it's kind of necessary in order to get it to stick really well. But I've never done it so hard it's sends the transfer flying. And if you still can't rip it without making your transfer go flying. Don't rip it. Just stretch it out till it's nice and thin and use your fingers to press it down on the rest and it'll stick

all you have to do is make sure you don't jerk your hand so much that holding the plate. just softly stretch it until it rips and then use your thumb and push it down smooth against the plate and it'll stick..

Also
I cut it off the roll. But then instead of cutting it long ways to the width I want to use.  I just fold it and halves until I've reached that. Two folds with with the two inch wide one is the perfect 15 mm width  for the 90 mm plates I use.  It's exactly the same width as the sides of plate.  And it gives you a couple extra layers. You just have to get the hang of stretching it when it's that thick. Which is really simple if you've already been working with parafilm for a long time.

I still can't figure out what y'all are doing with the parafilm. I use the 4" double rolls, and slice off a 3/4" bit from the end, which goes around a 100mm plate just about twice. I don't stretch the very last few mm's, I just press it against the edge of the plate and it sticks to the film underneath. If parafilm rips it's only because I pulled too hard...

so as follow up to my question about whether to wait a week with plates, I took 5 from my recent stack of 25 blue plates and inoculated them with some grain spawn.  only one of them caught an airborne cootie and I'll be able to cut that out without issue. hopefully taking them out of the bag to get these pix doesn't f anything up...

one plate has some actual grain spawn, the other just some mycelium I scraped off the inside of the jar.  the second picture is the bottom side of both.  do I need to be concerned about the coloration on the plate on the left?

and do you work around the inoculant when using the agar from a dish (as an inoculant itself) or use that as well since its proven itself to be clean and viable?

Take your next transfer as far away from that discoloration as possible.

I am of the opinion that if the entire plate is good enough for grain, then so is the transferred piece that started it.

However, if I’m feeling risky with T1 from a germ plate (or even germ plate itself), then I may leave that center bit behind and inoculate grain from the leading edge.

Can the myc from a plin bruise on a plate?

I feel like if it weren't a plin MABY this wouldn't be likely. But thinking it's a little more likely since it is coming from a plin.

In The center. Its  Definitely blue. Looks just like any bruising I've ever seen. So

Congrats! (and beautiful pics)

I’ve seen bruised myc before, seems like it could happen on a plate the same as a jar or a tray.

Been trying my hand at my first APE grow and here is my mono after 26 days S2B. I tried covering the top 3 holes on each short side of the tub with micropore to retain as much moisture in the tub. However I feel as if the conditions are just not right and this tub isn’t performing to its best ability.

Is there anything I can do to improve or may be missing? I heard APE prefers to consolidate vs spawning right in fruiting conditions.

Or should I just wait it out and hope that the second flush comes in slamming.
