It's not that I worry about them from a functional perspective--this is just my latent OCD speaking.. None of my other glassware comes out with this haze. These are relatively new media bottles, only been used 4 times to make agar.

I just don't like not being able to get things clean. These are the GL45 media bottles that are all the rage/recommendation elsewhere on the site.

if you want it off, youll need to use CLR or muriatic acid. 

all my jars and bottles look like that.  its "patina."

clear bottles are for parafilm people.  god hates parafim people.


I LOL'ed as I'm 100% a parafilm person.  I feel so attacked! 

Makes sense that it would be getting baked on in the PC. I'll go for the vinegar. Will that help remove what's already there, or do I have to go after that with straight chemicals?

Any reason why my LC jar has stalled out? It hasn’t changed for like a week or so. Injected isolated syringe on 7/27 and giving it a nice stir for a few minutes per day. In a 75 degree room with minimal light.

1st pic is before stirring. It’s APE.

It’s a karo LC.

Myc ran out of food. Throw some on grain and see what ya get

There’s no way I could add nutrients to this right since it wouldn’t be sterile?

The LC I bought when I first started and inoculated was full. Is there a different recipe to have an LC solution nutrient enough for the myc to completely fill the jar? This was my first time making an LC jar.

If it proves clean on agar, its plenty colonized to use as is.

Really? But it’s only filled about 1/5 of the jar. The last jar that I purchased online the whole jar was filled.

The benefit of lc is multiple inoculation points. Thats all you need. Id rather have a thin lc than one i cant even get into a syringe

One or two bricks is enough for you? What size brick?

One brick makes like 2-3 shoeboxes for me. Bigger tubs take the whole brick 😭 I don’t mix any verm in though.

I’ve been doing 3 bricks is at a time thst I break up into marble sized pieces. That’s gives me roughly 20 quarts of FC coir.

I use DME for LC nutrient. I've played with all different amounts too. For a quart jar, use like a table spoon worth or so and see how it works for you. Doesnt need to be exact.
