Been a while since I've done a giveaway on the org but I have this super dope subtropicalis I'd love to see you fine people grow out!

These things are HUGE. The pictures don't do it justice. Grown in a 15 qt tub in dreamer tub. They're a first generation grow from wild spores. Subtropicalis Coyopolan.

I have 11 prints to hand out, international.

The requirements:
You must message me a link to a subtropicalis grow that you've done AND shared in this thread!
Included in the message will be a name and address to send to. DONT BE RUDE! THESE ARE FREE! say thank you and be grateful. ❤️

I will strike this post out when all are claimed (if I remember.)

Ps. I also cut these out without gloves and didn't wash my hands. Consider it me forcing you to become a better cultivator  🤣

Does it count if I got them to grains with photos but failed after that?

If so I will send you a PM.

Oh and either way, great of you for doing a give away :leocheers:

Your Dreamers tub. I curious about which airpump you use since I'm about to build my own but I'm a little.but worried about how loud it will be since the sounds from the pump is constant

That counts 😘

I don't use air pumps. Check the link in my signature. I explain the build there with video.

Very cool Supa. I have between 15 and 20 jars of subtrops and ingeli still waiting to go to bulk, so not claiming. But they look sexy as fuck.

Hey shroomerites, since SupaThaRipper is offering some fresh subtrop genetics i thought I'd share some fairly new genetics as well.
I have 5 Tres Soles prints (international). This variety is larger, more robust, and prints better than the hvc variety but is much slower to pin and mature. Please only claim if you've successfully fruited this species before since these are a bit more challenging.

As promised, they'll be running side by side (coir vs compost manure) for potency purposes, out of sheer boredom ofc. That being said, nothing beats eating that delicious king crab flavored aged semp mycelium right out of the jar... what a delicacy

ps,
Regardless of my own personal mycelium consuming habits and for the sake of harm reduction, please do NOT attempt consumption of any kind of raw/uncooked grain under any circumstances. Common sense please. :oldman:

Haha I'm pretty curious about eating a jar, but every time you mention it tastes like crab I'm like nah, maybe not...
Would a dressing, or soy sauce or whatever, significantly alter taste?

Assuming your grain is already dehydrated, i'm not sure you would want to add something like soy sauce to myceliated grain lol

Also, keep in mind that a 4~6 month aged semp jar can be just as potent as the fruits themselves (genetics matter) in terms of dosage. I'd tread carefully if you're a first timer. Like that one time I had half a jar worth of tea and 9 hours later i was still lit af :mushroom2::mushroom2:

Thanks for the warning, I will tread very carefully with the subtrops anyway. I have learned my limits with azurescens and ps cyanescens (and pan cyans for that matter). And if everyone insists these are stronger, I will not be fucking around.

I must say fresh semps are better (almost good) tasting, than dried.

So here's my first grow of sempreviva. I got a very nice buzz from 0.5g dried, comparable to APE or perhaps stronger.

I started from spores 6 months ago. The first culture never fruited, I suspect that was a mono. In January, 3 months ago I got this pin:

I ran with the same shoeboxes I use for cubes and got quite small fruits. It took me a good 20 minutes to clean these:

I got curious due to the look of these and did some microscopy. They match quite well the notes of Heim & Cailleux (1959, 1966) for semperviva,

I don't quite get why this thread is called subtropicalis/semperviva. These are different species as far as I can tell. Subtropicalis has branched cheilocystidia, while subtropicalis has unbranched.

I found it interesting that subtropicalis originated as a lab grown culture by Heim and Cailleux. They speculated that what they got was a mutation of mexicana, or a cross between mexicana and caerulescens. Guzmán assigned semperviva to hoogshagenii, but by 1998 he also recognized semperviva and subtropicalis as distinct species.

What is this? It’s in my Semps tray. I’ll wait to see if it turns green but I’m thinking this isn’t a good thing.

That looks very much like the crap that alarmed me before it turned into pins.

Fingers crossed that you’re right. I should know in a few days. I did see one clearly definable white pin over on the side of the same tray.

Well this thread has been really active in the past days, so it kind of disappeared in the fog. But less then a week ago I had the exact same worries. Couldn't figure out if it were trich or weird primordia. And my suspected trich turned into pins, so I have good hopes for yours. Fingers crossed.

Edit: for comparison purposes: page 380 (assuming we have the same page parameters)
