After re-reading your AIO guide, it looks like you're just rinsing the millet and putting it into the AIO jars while wet and uncooked. I've seen other no cook millet guides where the wetness is what cooks the millet so it makes sense to me, I just wanted to confirm that you do not precook your millet.

Also, what other non-pan species thrive in a JCM? I'm not going to jump into another species before I get pans nailed down so I don't bite off more than I can chew, but I am curious what other options there are.

Totally unrelated to pans, but I wanted to share it with you: I had a FtM friend that is Coast Salish, a native group from British Columbia. In their mythology, having a tree frog as a spirit guide represents a lifetime of metamorphosis, and remaking yourself. I think of him when I see your username.

I’d bet Tamps would grow pretty in a JCM. Probably even well enough to be willing to drop spores. My summer back porch tamps (very high humidity, low 80’s, and a breeze coming in) threw spores everywhere.

My indoor Tamps grown in just a water tub with an aquarium heater grew nice, but never nice enough to look like the outdoor ones or drop spores. But I’d be willing to bet a full JCM, including a timed fan, would do the trick.

So, it's been 10 days and my PF Tek with Coir and Liquid Nutrients seems to be working with Bisporus Washington!

Still too early to tell if it will truly work, but no sign of contamination anywhere, and quite a few cakes are showing signs of growth. Last time with cubes it took right around a month for them to colonize, these might be a bit longer I assume.

I'm just getting some put together, only air stones so far. I have tamps in it at the moment. They're doing ok. It still needs some dialing in but they do sporulate a bit. 💪

I didn't precook in that prep.  I just prepped the substrate a bit wetter.

Most grain prep will work with them.  Currently I'm bucket teking millet, rye, wheat, and brown rice.  Wash, rinse, dump in a bucket.  Dump boiling water in the bucket.  Soak 12-18 hours.  Rinse, strain.  For AIO jars you won't have to dry them all the way.  As the substrate should get the extra water as well as prevent clumping.

How big of a tote did the 1000gph pump go in? And was it on 24/7?

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check it out.

So far they've all been from the same variety, so they could just be on the weak end of cubes. I have some PESH going now, hoping they are a bit stronger.

There can definitely be some major variance. I've got "Ghost" that'll get me to a lvl 1 on <1g. And then I've also got some "Golden Teacher" genetics that are trash. Took me 14.5g to get to a lvl 1 trip (started with 3.5 and had to redose twice). Both cubes.

Edit: well probably less of a point there now that I finished reading the rest of the thread lol sorry

AIO jar write up.  If anyone wants to contribute their techniques, feel free too.  I think it's pretty versatile, and I was mostly doing a quick run down of what I'm currently doing with it.

Success!  Took 0.68 freeze dried grams of TTBVI that I grew using gordotek and knowledge obtained on here.  Most amazing experience of my entire life.  Thank you so much!  And for anyone looking for encouragement, this is it.  Once you find yourself pressure cooking cow crap, the kingdom of heaven is at hand .  Do not give up.  I'm still sitting here in awe the next morning.

Cubes and ochras are great, but this TTBVI is THE BOMB!

Until this point, every trip (cubes, ochras) I've taken has had at least a little bit of a rough patch....anxiety, negative introspection, having to deal with crap I did or did not do in the past.  Reflecting on when I zigged when I should have zagged.....just always kind of been drug through the mud a little bit (or a lot) before getting to the love and forgiveness.  Had times where I thought the mushroom was trying to kill me.....not fun.

Not so with this....Come up was super smooth and pleasant.  Sitting with wife on couch watching TV, colors got brighter, laughing, walls breathing, feeling good.  As she was getting ready for bed, I felt a powerful stimulant effect, mental clarity, inspired, like fueled with an energy from within.  Clear, powerful, comforting.

Layed down in bed, lights out.  Just bathed in loving existence.  No crazy fractals or overwhelming visuals.  Still able to get up and use the bathroom no problem.  Just KNOWING that everything is the way it should be.  There is nothing to regret.  It is all forgiven.  So clear, strong, unflinchingly accepting and loving.

I thought this was going to just be a test dose to get my feet wet.  I had no idea!  There was nothing I could do but surrender to God.  Now I know what they are talking about.  No words can do it justice.

Thank you all so much and keep on keeping on! AMAZING!

@tree frog - AIO jars

This is so freaking awesome. Even down to washed grains dumped in a bucket. I'm doing
all of this...because no more bags.

I notice that your sub seems come out of the jar clump free. Those trays look really nice
when you first put them down. Is that the gypsum/calc. carb doing that? When I take my subs out
of bags I get tons of clumps. It's never an issue, but still...it looks shitty

I get some clumping at spawn from the mycelium knitting together.  I may have either gotten lucky with that jar or I broke it up prior to snapping the picture.

But yeah, the calcium and gypsum does help to keep the clumping down.  I mostly use it to make sure the jars can be shaken easily. But there's a lot of other stuff I like about the combination in so far as mycelium's relationship with it, so I tend to add it to my grain jars and casings too.

Fast and whispy is what you want.

Weza mycelium is a little unusual, I think plate 2 at approximately the 3 to 4 o' clock region (11 o' clock as well possibly) but I can't see these plates properly!

Back light it and take a good look for the most organised fast and whispy stuff and take another transfer, 1 and 3 look a little sketchy to me?

I believe in you! I think these were from me?

Happy to see you here cultivating them regardless

Yes. These are from you I believe.

I took Baba's advice and made some .5% agar and transferred last night. Thank you both.

So I'm back with some grown out plates of Panaeolus Cyanescens. Keeping in mind that this my first go at this type of mushroom, what, in any of these plates, is good looking mycelieum for to stride for?

All of these were plated to .5% LME agar and are T2 and T3's. The first pic on the left of each set is above the plate and the second picture on the right is taken while back lit.

SET 1

I get plates like this where the mycelieum goes tomentose then flattens out and then goes ryzo-ish again.

SET 2

This one stayed fluffy all the way.

SET 3

Some more of that back and forth tomentose growth.

SET 4

Also present are plates that exhibit this 'starburst' pattern of growing. This set(4) and the next set(5) below show this behavior.

Set 5

SET 6

This one seemed happy to stay in the corner. Or was it forced?

SET 7

My first pan trays are eating the fuck out of the casing layer. Applied 1/4in pasteurized jiffy seed starter mix 3 days ago and it's broke through in a lot of spots. What could I be doing wrong?

Google said 6.2 but not sure how accurate that is. I don't have a ph meter and it doesn't say on the bag.
