Azurescen from spore syringe:

1/4 germination plate -  (made t1 transfers next day)

1/8 (did more transfers)

(Uploaded the wrong pic before lol… this is the right culture)

This culture is acting nice and aggro, too

Planning on 1/10 being the day to make T2 azurescen plates and put my India Woodlover and Pan Cyan spores to agar

They likely just blend various Red/Green/Blue food colors together instead of using actually black materials like charcoal.

That second pic looks bright pink similar to "lipstick mold"... does it look like that IRL or is it camera/food dye trickery from purple spores?

I run my plates clear and can hold up colored LEDs to backlight it if i want different contrasts...
The deep black activated charcoal plates do look really cool though i want to try those for my hopefully pretty T2-3 plates.

DV8DUG's LAGM25 Grow Log

Too late to start? I have a bunch of germ plates started 1-2-2025.

~=]o  Jack Frost x Penis Envy
~=]o  Panaeolus cyanescens ~ Weeza
~=]o  Koh Samui Super Strain
~=]o  Leucistic Koh Samui

=====================================================

Here is some packaging from two of the four types.

Here are the JFxPE with trenches that can be seen in the plates.

=====================================================
1-13-2025

Pan Cyanescens

My first time growing with anything outside of P.Cubensis. It may seem like I went a little overboard with the germ plates but I was testing to see if different nute values affected germination. As you can see plates are color coded by % value of nutes:
  • Red = 4.0%
                  10g agar powder
                  20g LME
                  500ml water
                  10 drops red food coloring
  • Blue = 1.6%
                  10g agar powder
                  8g LME
                  500ml water
                  10 drops blue food coloring
  • Black = 1.0%
                    10g agar powder
                    5g LME
                    500ml water
                    10 drops black food coloring

Here is a sample of a few plates that were looking good to me.

Now I have no experience with this mycelium type. What I have gathered from the site here is I'm looking for fast and whispy.
What does everyone think about any of these plates?

P. Cubensis ~ JFxPE

Here's a look at the trenched plates. Dirty swab. Barely making it across, I'll transfer in a day or so.

Oh man... I can't believe I forgot I was in this mass grow. Forgot about the thread but not about my cultures. Here's what I've got right now.

Pan Cyanescens

I have a lot of plates and have put some to poo-cakes and they are growing fast. I also have some on oats as well.

P. Cubensis ~ JFxPE

I have two shoeboxes. One created on Feb 6 and the other on Feb 8.

I have lots of grain in quarts going too...

I have a lot of grain quarts for this too.

...and in single pints as well...

And I have them all tucked into a 110 qt. tub.

Leucistic Koh Samui

This is still colonizing and going well.

I also went overboard and have these cloned and/or started.

already learning a really useful elementary lesson here, that spores will often be less viable after even a short time. I've only grown so far from relatively fresh prints, so took it for granted. I thought simple storage (tinfoil, baggie) and most spores would be good for years.

I believe it honestly depends on storage, but I believe ideal methods for actual long term storage of cultures is using something similar to the Cryo Vial or LI Preservation.

It looks like you have some germination near that super suspect red stuff you have going on. I'd transfer away asap.

If you want to do black agar I suggest using activated charcoal.

Non LAGM related pic for example.

True, I had no charcoal on hand. I'll get some more pics tomorrow of what it looks like in regular lighting.

I saw that my pics kinda sucked once I got them here. I will probably redo on some different agar tomorrow.

How much growth should I wait to see until I take my first transfer?

Not a lot to report, but got enough growth to do transfers, did three of both x7x+ and TWxPE6, it went pretty smooth, maybe I am getting the hang of agar :strokebeard:

Let's do x7x+ update first, clean print so far.

Before and after transfer.

The T1's

Now we move on to TWxPE6. Clean print as well.

Before and after.

The T1's

"But hey Kloakk, didn't you say three transfers of both?" Well yes, yes I did, but I lied, not about the number of transfers, but about getting the hang of my agar game(I'm sorry for lying), but you see, THIS asshole, this little shit just had to make me look like a fool to my inferiors.. Well I guess we all are rolling now, some on floor laughing, and some on the new agar plate..

Hope I at least did an okay job at choosing sectors..

Hey, I'm on my second grow so new to agar too.

The advice I have successfully followed is:

"You would ideally want to do a transfer from a dish as soon as you see growth to avoid spreading any contaminants during the transfers. The less there is growing on your dish before the transfer the better."

Detailed here:

Stro's Cleaning and Isolating On Agar

Good luck!

Haven’t checked in 2 days but I know as of then at least no germ and a few bacteria haha. Guess it’s to be expected from wild spores.
I’m contemplating brf pucks too. Just learned about them being used to fight bacteria last night.
So would you just take your ungerminated and bacterial agar and xfer like you would to a new plate?

three new semp plates are bacterial.

I've gone back to this one print like 6-8 times in the past few months. Quick question, how many times would you return to one print? Will next try sterile swab to puck.

Nothing else germinating yet, so might try sterile water swab for some cubes too. Hey, still only January

Weird you've had so many problems with that one print.  Maybe it wasn't dry enough before it was packaged or something.  Might have a swab or two left if you need one.

You can barely make out the fine radial outgrowth from the spore clumps on my Stropharia alcis plate, but she's going finally.  Quite excited.

edit: so but can you return to the same print a few times? at your own risk I guess with each revisit?

I looked at your log and didn't see any pictures posted of the growth, but I personally transfer from a germination plate a few days after I see growth. Pick a few good looking sectors and put those on their own plates.

Think about reusing prints several times like reusing a condom lol. But for real, each time you go into your print if your sterile technique isn't top notch you're adding microscopic contamination to the print, resealing it, and each time you use it the contamination compounds.

LAGM Tax:

I'm still 0/6 on my Amazonian plates, and even 0/2 on the BRF pucks. Today (amidst some other agar work) I took some swabs and wetted them with sterilized distilled water, then streaked the print, swabbed a plate and broke the tip off into the plate.
