"bringing the neighbours dog into it and shooting it in my dreams is a big relief for me but also not related to the issue."

I meant dream about it and then DO it for real. I beg to differ, but anytime one has a thought and carries it out the subjective world is changing the objective world. Politics or not, Swami was also correct in his statement, though he did seem to have an agenda. These things are CERTAINLY ON topic.

"Reality is what continues to exist when we stop believing in it"
-Philip K. Dick

Therefore, reality is subjective, as long as what you believe in is what is Real. But I don't know if believing in reality is possible.

well if you want to flog the dog.
this topic seemed to me to be quite pointed:
"Reality is subjective "
the direction you are following is not "reality"-present but
effects into "reality"-future.
i.e. "Reality will be subjected "
and it is certainly a valid direction to go from here, but what about here, now?
there is no dog.

The thread was started to discuss the level of subjectivity in reality.

Existants do not have their existence sustained by a consciousness or by many consciousnesses. Quarks, atoms, molecules, gas clouds, nebulae, stars, planets, galaxies and galactic clusters exist. They would continue to exist even if every consciousness in the universe winked out tomorrow.

They way different consciousnesses apprehend (perceive) the above-mentioned existants may vary. That does not mean the existants are themselves constructs of consciousness.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

When we are asleep and dreaming, we believe that the world we are experiencing is completely real, and we engage in those experiences as though they had far-reaching implications. We might come into a great deal of strife, concern, or pain. We might come into pleasure, delight, and happiness. When we wake up, however, that world vanishes into nothingness. The reality we had just been interacting with as authentic is immediately dismissed as nothing but a projection of the mind. We understand that it had no substance, that it was empty. If we just had a nightmare, we inform ourselves that it was "just a dream". We then continue on with our lives with the assumption that the world we are experiencing is completely real, engaging in those experiences as though they had far-reaching implications. We might come into problems of stress, or joys of satisfaction. When we wake up, however..

this is a funny issue
a kind of mind f*ck

1) the reality that keeps on going after we die is not consensual reality it is creation itself. (ref. swami's new thread p.k.dick quote)

2) the reality that each one of us gets to interact with is less raw in the sense that we are locally enhancing and editing it(*).

3) consensual reality is what we can agree on, which is a thin veneer constantly peeling away.

(*) point 2 above compared to point 1 above relates to what I thought the theme of the thread was, i.e. the net difference between ongoing creation and our perception of ongoing creation.
