Kodama F4 is now on grain, SSLC, and agar. Swabs will be taken in a few weeks if all goes well.

Nice, that looks great!
I still have cryos of the kodama I got from your challenge grow over a year ago.
I just successfully revived an enigma backup I made at the same time.

What if you could find the right frequency to generate a tone using a chladni plate or subwoofer as a tactile transducer, and get perfect cymatical standing wave ripple patterns to setup and stay formed on the surface as the hot agar cools off?

More ripples = more surface area.

In theory, a 100mm wide plate could act more like a 150+ mm plate(or more?), as the mycelium has to grow out on more of a 3D surface, with more room to spread out. Right?

Think it would work?

Those are the Holy Grail containers. They work perfectly. They are not perfectly clear, but you can see through them.

That's alot of monkeying around when you could simply get bigger plates not to mention ripples would make cleaning away from contams next to impossible.

Stll,  it would look pretty sweet especially with Supa's tie-dyed plates.

So far all I could find was various cymatic ice cube experiments, where they were able to use piezoelectric technology to flash freeze the standing wave patterns into the water, however it looks more bubbly like foam than anything once solid.

Cornstarch and water can make for cool effects. Bubble cymatics is another awesome way to visualize how sound effects matter, via the colorful soap swirls in the bubbles surface as it resonates. Or just water and lights.

I'm more interested in keeping the surface ripples in formation when the solution sets up though, which there isn't a lot of info on, meaning I'll have to try it myself. Might be a tough feat to accomplish, especially with agar.

Then I found this picture, which unfortunately appears to be AI generated.

Infrared jell-o cymatics! Is this for real?

Maybe there is some UV reactive food grade additive I could add to the agar to help it instantly set off and capture the waveforms better, while in vitro.

I'll have to try microwaving up a little agar and test it out soon, on my new modified subwoofer chladni plate I was working on. Unsealing the no-pour plate/containers won't be an option if I want to keep them clean, so not sure how its gonna work out or if it will.

If not, then I will move on to manipulating the water and mycelium in LC solutions instead, with the same system. See what effects certain frequencies have on growth, or if it creates some kind of standing wave grid, with nodes and anti nodes within the water that makes a solid like 3D matrix for the fungi to latch onto..

Gellan gum(no magnesium) at around 2% can make rippled surfaces if you cool it quickly.

Again I'd argue, why go for the wrinkly people for more surface area when we could just do it on fat people

This is sounding like fight club all over again.
