Barkeeper's Friend would probably get that off. Unfortunately it would probably get rid of the powder coat too

I assume you've tried scrubbing with dish soap and a Scotch Brite pad?

This was going to be my master plate for storage. I’ve got the culture on grain as we speak.

Depends on what you did. If you created a current you may have deposits on the glass or you may have  etched it like frosted glass signs. If it’s etched it’s permanent. The glass itself is altered.
If it’s a surface deposit it can be removed by using the opposite element. Acid neutralizes base, base neutralizes acid.
If the water simply evaporated then vinegar or CLR will remove the deposits. Pour some in and watch for bubbles coming off the deposit. Don’t leave it too long or you will etch the glass.
Positive/negative. I’m walking the dogs and typing. My phone is usually in my pocket while I walk. It’s going back in my pocket.
Maybe Roscoe will chime in, he knows this stuff.
I’ll be a bit but no one is in a hurry because this hobby teaches patience.

You can put it in the fridge whenever, you really just need enough to take a small sample when you want to revive it.

I would also recommend checking out distilled water stasis in cryovials. Much more space efficient than plates or cups in a fridge, and they can be stored at room temperature. I switched to this after my fridge murdered all of my stored cultures (plates and slants alike) by freezing.

I’ve been planning  on sterilizing distilled water for storage anyhow…might just be that now is the time. That fridge shit freezing does sound a little scary.

I have a plate that has fully colonized. Is there any rush getting it to grain? Might be another week till I'm able to get it done.

I would make another transfer instead of using a plate that sat.

I don't think the glass is etched, because only the powder/enamel coating was affected.

It gets me so hot when people use effect/affect correctly.

I dont what? And yes, it did look cool, but I had the whole "get contaminated things out of your house ASAP" pounded into me the first time I was here, and struggling to accept that it's not that big of a deal. Ill save the next one if it looks cool.

I’ve got 7 grain jars and some quite old plins (plates are about a year old). Please help me decide what to send (if anything)— or failing that, what I should transfer to a new plate. Thanks!

Semperviva:
Three plates here, one has just little knots, one has a tiny plin, and one has a nice cluster which I’m not sure is bruised or contammed. The cluster looked fine a week or two ago and I don’t remember that big bit of condensation.

Natalensis:
The uncut plate seems to have contam on one side. The cut plate looks very dry.

P. Mexicana:
I transferred part of a plin or maybe it was a plone (plate stone lol). However as you see, it never took off one way or another for some reason. The transfer was taken from the large plin which is now overgrown by myc, at about 7:00.

Ecuador:

Very old and dried out, but seems clean to me I think.

Is this cobweb/why poor growth?

These are all transfers from other plates 4 days ago. Two have cottony growth extending outwards, one has none.

Is that cobweb mould? As for the one without that, why is it not growing out? How long should that take at 80F?

I have no idea what's in the agar, I bought them ready made.

How did you make your agar? Looks very strange. First plate has bacterial contam at 9 and the bottom two seems like mold to me
