I knew freezing would destroy the cell walls, curious about short term potency loss.
My beef tub wasn’t that strong and I got maybe 40-60 wet grams sporadically and didn’t feel like busting out the Nesco for the ones and twos.

Going to eat them,  while still frozen haha, within the month likely 😬

Mold and its spores will easily be destroyed at 17 psi in less than 2 hours. It's getting in after your pressure cook cycle, which points to your lids, the SFDs, or the seal between SFD and lid.

Edit to add that insufficient hydration could play some role (dry grain doesn't take on heat as well or as quickly as hydrated), but I think that'd more likely manifest as bacterial contamination. If it's molding in the jar before you've even opened it, I really think mold spores are getting in after it's cooled.

How fast do grain jars dry out? I had 2 extras when I prepped them last and they’ve been sitting here for about a month and a half. I’ve had them fully sealed with unmodified plastic lids, so I would think they would dry slowly, and they show no signs of contam to my eyes.

Grain is cheap and easy to prep , if you don't care about the risk go for it, otherwise prep another batch n get to work.

Mold and it's spores die way easier than that, they die from the bucket Tek let alone a PC cycle

I trialled different grains for months and all the cheap wheat got 100% contam after the first shake, eventually even without a shake, only certain pans on smaller jars would make it through but I’d only get 1/2 flushes, some grain are just impossible which is something I didn’t believe until I’d experienced it, was even lime soaking before prep which only bought me a little more time, ditch that grain and find another.

Did you modify your jars? That might not have been done properly.

Ok so a lot to think about.

It's definitely mold that I get and not bacteria. Since mold spores die very easy it's probably a filter failure.

I attached the sfd's on the plastic lids by heating up the plastic around the hole so it melts and then pressed the filters against it so they stick. Maybe this way I didn't get a proper seal like you would have with silicon.

Now I've found some unmodified lids , so I'm running a cycle with those. I understand it's pretty straightforward but just be sure.. I unscrew the lids 1/4 turn so air can escape out of the jar during the cycle. I run the cycle in the evening and let the pc cool down during the night. Do I need to worry about comtam getting sucked in while cooling down with partially unscrewed lids?

This might be a stupid question but here goes. Do aborts have more psilocin? Or is it the same amount but more concentrated? I just chopped down a tub of aborts and these things bruised so blue there black. I also ate a few of these off a tub the other day and was kinda blown away by how much I felt them. Makes me think aborts would almost be better for capsules.

My second dehydrator has just broken mid harvest..

The heater has gone but the fan still works, it's just blowing cool air. I'm kinda fucked without it and I'm wondering if it's worth picking the mush and storing them in the broken one with fan on until my other one is free; or if I just paper bag & fridge the fresh.

Thoughts?

Yes,stock, you will be surprised that the fruits dry prettier with 12 to 24h fan before full heat dry, go for it!

Fr3nzy: As for the hypothesis that they have more alkaloids than a grown fruit, that's just an urban myth, imho
