could be, on the one hand,
but I think the brain uses more energy while stoned,
especially since more neural activations are happening each second, ostensibly because 5ht receptor activation makes neurons easier to activate with lower action potentials,
and this means those 5ht receptor neurons with psychedelic molecules docked fire more often and feedback activation sequences last longer=> ergo we get the psychedelic experience; but we use more energy (ATP) because these neurons are firing more and moving more electrons all over the place.

When people (especially family) are so religious, dependent on religion, it really disappoints me. I feel like they don't have any direct experience guiding them like I do. It shouldn't take weekly mass or a book or anything to feel a connection to god. So when people do all that I have to wonder if they're completely lost. Those super religious people basically don't have a personality the way I see it, they're just living and acting out of fear for damnation. I see how it affects political views and culture and I just think religion must be one of the worst influences in society. Don't get me wrong, a lot of "good" people are religious, but it's like something's missing at their core. Even to just have a conversation like this with a religious person is blasphemous, suddenly you're the devil to them. It's a conflict that I'll never understand.

I've been trying to get into a church in order to feel some community. It really is scary how these people seem to be on autopilot. What drove me to church was an inescapable feeling of wanting to do good in the world, I'm pretty sure none of the people I've interacted with up till now have even felt that. They just want to save as many people as they can from the "wrath" of their god, and if they have to feed some poor starving soul shitty canned food that they themselves would never eat, so be it, so long as they can plaster it all over Instagram and facebook(so they can save more people of course).

Another thing psilocybin and especially mescaline has imprinted in me is a deeper, almost metaphorical lens with which I view the Bible, Qur'an, Vedas. Like sure the stories are entertaining but they all relate a message which you are supposed to apply to your personal life. Like the notion that Jesus was an actual person and actually lived and actually did miracles and stuff is completely irrelevant to me, it doesn't matter in the least if the person was ever really there, as long as everyone applies his teachings to their own life, there will be heaven on earth right? I was shocked to see how offended people were at that statement and vehemently believe in not just the physicality of Jesus but also that he is the only perfect being, and we are incapable of ever being like him. So at this point I'm just like ooooookaayyyy, what's the point of religion at all then if we're not each here to individually change for the better? How is Jesus even "the way" then if no one can ever be like him?

Something is missing for sure, and like you said it's not superficial, there is some really deep shit that's just overlooked by most religious people.

true, we need to live in community, festivities surround family and religion, if you cannot find a religious community perhaps you can find a family and be part of that.

Some people by working at a food bank or city farm find the community they need.

Sometimes volunteering there, at a library, or at a hospital, a family finds you. Religion and church, temple, synagogue is extra.

I volunteer at a horse farm working with disabled kids one day a week, fixing their posture/core-strength due to the horse giving them 3d movement and balance/counterbalance opportunities a wheelchair simply doesn't. The community there is top notch, and I love working there. Like you said, the community is what we need, and I definitely feel better/more human since starting there at the beginning of the year.

Brilliant suggestion with the city farm, I didn't know that was a thing, I'll check it out:thumbup:

I had one experience that wasn't really pleasant at all, I think I might have had a seizure. On the comedown I remember feeling sleep paralysis, even tho I've never experienced it before, I was aware of myself but unable to move anything. Once I was 100% down I didn't feel quite right. To this day I think I have a speech impairment that might have been triggered from that trip / seizure (if it was one). Didn't have a sitter that time so idk what really happened exactly.

Shortly after that trip though I felt like a different person. I literally wondered if my spirit died on that trip, because I felt like my personality detached. Like my whole life up to that point was put in a folder somewhere and I was rebooted with a blank slate consciousness. I even remember thinking hmm, maybe I'm an alien entity that just took over/switched places with this body. And the deal was I have to forget everything I came from and live this life now. The memories of my human life up to then felt like a brochure - I could pull them up and examine them, but I didn't feel that intimately personal connection to them anymore. They're just a collection of things that happened to this body that I could choose to adopt or let go of.

Just because you had a scary trip doesn't mean you should be concerning anyone else with your trauma. Feeling possessed by an entity is not something I've every felt in my many experiences, but I never believed in entities or aliens anyway. I'm not a psychiatrist but I feel like there is a reason for your experience.

Clearly your heart is in the right place but church may not be the best place to find other people wanting to do good.  They're mostly acting out of fear of going to hell.
It's great when you get to hear a "believer" actually admit it

I can't imagine how sad it would be to live a life based on such deeply rooted fears that they would cause someone to bend their beliefs in an attempt to lessen their irrational fears
The mental gymnastics involved sound exhausting

Are you being sarcastic? I could quote at least two dozen of your posts freaking out about your entity contact experience. No one has pushed their trauma on others as much as you have. I interpreted my experience as more of a medical condition anyway, like a brain fart that never ends. I wouldn't describe it as possession, I don't literally think an alien took over my body. If it was an alien, it didn't come with a personality or agenda of its own, it was just consciousness in absence of my usual personality. I'm describing the feelings of depersonalization, probably. It wasn't scary, just disorienting. Anyway I wanted to share that one out of a hundred experiences because it did change me to feel detached from my personality like that.

If by "freaking out about your entity contact experience", you mean I've simply relayed an experience through text, sure. Two dozen is probably more like 5 or so, in relevant context, i.e., using this forum for its purpose. There is no "trauma" on my end, buddy. Relax. We get it, you weren't scared or anything. And you didn't think anything silly about possession or aliens. Just depersonalization is all. At least you didn't think you were Jesus Christ this time.

The changa recipe I make goes as follows, 1g DMT, 1g leaf blend, 300mg harmala alkaloids. Dissolve the lot in a bit of acetone (or other volatile quality solvent), mix it up a good bit, dry it out properly, stick it in a bong and smoke it.  :tongue2:

Is 300mg of harmala (freebase I guess?) enough to feel the effects of imaos without harmala influencing the dmt experience too much? I'm about to do my first blend of changa because I don't want to play around with freebase anymore to find out if such inhalation will be enough to make a breakthrough or not, I'm not a regular smoker and vaping freebase can be complicated

Re: Is DMT worth it? [Re: Cosmyc]

You'll get different opinions on that. While changa does work, it takes time for the harmala to kick in when smoking it. So the smoking method for changa is different too - instead of 3-4 quick hits held in, you can and should spread out the dose in multiple hits. Like, wrapping changa in a joint is probably the best way, cuz it's already leaf matter and the joint stretches out the hits over a 5-10 minute period which is perfect. You'll slowly and steadily come up, probably won't be able to finish the joint, especially if you make changa in the common 1:1 ratio. That's where it starts to get complicated again tho. How much harmalas do you really need? if 300mg, then a 1:1 ratio of DMT would be a huge dose. IME 1:1 50mg is enough harmalas for it to work, so you may only need 50-100mg in the whole joint. Or find a buddy or two to pass the 300mg 1:1 between - changa joints are a great way to get a small group blasted off together.

My recommendation is to get harmalas in HCL form, so not freebase. Then you can take the maoi orally and dial in a dose that works to inhibit you but also not so much to affect the experience, as you said. 200mg is typical but you could take a few days of just dosing harmalas to figure that out for you. Then you're inhibited for several hours and can smoke the dmt however you want, at any pace, and it'll be very potent.

Thank you for your reply, in fact I had read about “The art of Changa” in the dmt-nexus forum that the typical ratio was 1g harmala alkaloids, 1g dmt and 1g leaf.

Have you ever tried vaporhuasca? Because I have a gvg but I haven't had a chance to experiment with it much yet due to the fact that I don't experiment much but I plan to change that during the summer months.
I've only tripped once in a group but I've had a bad experience with that so I consider myself more of a solo explorer. I've read that some people take caapi tea or rue 30 minutes before spraying the dmt while the imaos work.

Re: Is DMT worth it? [Re: Cosmyc]
    #28784698 -

I don't like tea so I prefer to capsule extracted harmalas, but yes exactly, you wait at least 30 minutes after taking the harmala to give it time to inhibit your mao.

I've done it several times. At first I was going for pharmahuasca, but dialing in the right ratio and timing for pharma can be tricky and not always work. After waiting a few hours for the ayahuasca to kick in, but nothing happening, I'd smoke some DMT to see whether the MAOI was working or not. It's definitely noticeably stronger when you're inhibited. IME even 12 hours after taking harmalas it continues to potentiate.

I've heard that before but never tried it myself. Both freebase and hcl are legal to buy.

When it comes to Aya/pharma though, I'm a little skeptical about swallowing freebase DMT capsules. Sure it will be converted to hcl, but I assume there's some loss and also if you taste freebase DMT it's so caustic it burns so I imagine some extra nausea as well.

Yeah I don’t know about DMT, haven’t eaten it yet. But I can say that there’s no nausea with freebase harmalas.
