There are different people with different sensitivities. Also some people can see clearly and vividly in the minds eye and some see almost nothing - I think that also plays a large role. Gave 1.5 grams of nats to a sensitive and creative friend. He turned into a cat and travelled the catverse and felt the different planets he was on like he actually was there. At the same time I did 3 grams nats and maybe saw some abstract images with eyes closed. So if he ever did dmt, I have no doubt he'd spend multiple lifetimes somewhere.

The stable hallucination being our "reality" is an interesting idea that I often think about.

People believing that everyday perception is a hallucination and that drug induced hallucination is reality is interesting to me.

My perspective is that they're both sort of a hallucination in the sense that the perciever can't be taken out of perception.  The Buddha said where there's perception, there's deception.  Which isn't a call to demonize perception or push it away as unreal or 'just in our minds'.  But rather, to be mindful of perception and the cognitive biases we overlay on things by the very nature or act of perceiving.

This doesn't mean they're not real (or unreal for that matter).  Either this realm or the other realms.  Just that neither is as it appears to our senses.

Timelessness and other lives is an interesting one.  My experience with these spaces is more like a memory.  Hitting that sense of timelessness with the psychedelic and remembering something from outside of the context of my normal understanding of spacetime.

So it's less like living a whole other life.  And more like remembering something that happened.  I haven't had a sense of agency in these spaces, which I tend to in dreams (rather lucid or not).  Where as in a memory the thing has already happened so there's no choice involved or unfolding story or drama.

I don't know what those spaces are beyond the impression I get from them.  Again, where there's perception, there's deception.  So I try not to reify my perception of the thing, as the thing itself.  Rather tripping or not.  But it's a strong mental habit to take my perceptions super seriously. So try is the operative term

He told me that he can see in his minds eye 10/10. Without shrooms I'm probably 1/10 or 2/10. So he tells me that some cat like anime or children cartoon figures approached him and asked if he wants to play. I told him it's safs and he can do as he pleases. Then he told me that a big flower ate him and then the cat creature gave him a flower. Later I heard stories of visiting various planets in the catverse and sensing everything with the senses of the cat creatures. He recalled that his whiskers tingled and that the cat creatures he saw were in various colors and proportions.

He also said that he had a clear understanding that what he was experiencing was a form of channeling of this catverse and that it was an actual planet somewhere in the universe. As the cat creature he walked around the flat and felt that he was immortal and 500 years old and he sensed that all of the walls in the room permiated green and red colored lines which reflected the energy of which everything material is built of. When he communicated with other sober people, he had a strong sense of being able to detect everyones energy and connect at a level that would normally be impossible. His main takeaway was that in his natural state of mind he is also able to tap into similar experiences and creativity that can be used to write fiction.

It'd be hilarious if Blueberry Muffin was like, "Well, he kept meowing at me and then took a massive dump in my cat's litterbox." Nah, genuinely cool story, bro.

I thought endogenous DMT, at effective concentrations, was debunked.

The idea of stable hallucination should embrace re-triggering of false perception, since while stoned an hallucination persists for seconds (though  it may be re-triggered and seem to last longer) and while not stoned perceptions fade in under a second to be replaced by the next sequences of mental contents.

By "effective concentrations", you mean enough to experience a DMT trip? Endogenous DMT being released in any meaningful amount post-mortem was likely debunked using rats, IIRC (NDE's were theorized to be potentially caused by a flood of DMT). But I believe they did show more than there they expected, I think. No idea if that disproves it, though, since I'd assume a reduction in other neurotransmitters would increase the effect of others. If everything else fades down and your brain releases it's storage of DMT, who knows?

Anyway, the idea is that maybe our steady levels of DMT that our body produces effect our reality. So the "effective concentration" for reality as we see it might just be the amount needed for stability. More of it might change things (there have been some studies showing schizophrenic folks having higher DMT concentrations in their urine, but in totality, I don't think this result has been conclusively proven). Neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin are responsible for so much and DMT isn't super different in structure. It's not some theory I find likely or believe in, I just find it very interesting our bodies produce some of these chemicals and we don't exactly know why.

Regarding stable hallucinations, I have had objects in my room completely transformed into completely different versions of themselves and remain that way for minutes, even after turning away multiple times. I don't mean trippy overlay, either, just a completely different version of itself. This involved no other standard psychedelic visuals, patterns, thoughts, or feelings. I'm not sure how that'd be explained by your response above. People also have false awakenings with the qualia of real life being indistinguishable from waking life, only to wake up (sometimes again and again).

I can't remember, how many times have you done n,n-DMT? I remember you've done salvia prior and experienced entities, IIRC, but not sure how far you've went with DMT. I'm not trying to use the answer to discount your opinions or anything, just curious.

These sensitivities can vary within a person as well.  When I'm smoking weed everyday, my mind's eye gets less clear.  And when I'm indulging in a lot of visual media (video games or netflix for instance) my mind's eye can be active without being creative (if that makes sense).

On the positive side, dream journaling and meditation help keep my mind's eye open and creative.  More of a liminal or bardo space.

There's also the non-visual aspects of these experiences.  I froze to death living an alien life on an alien world during an ayahuasca journey.  There was a visual experience there but mostly it was the bitter cold and the sense that I had died that left an impression on me.

And again my experience felt more like a memory or 'past life'.  There was no sense of agency.

When I'm using it in moderation it does the same for me.  When it starts affecting my closed eye and dreams, basically it's a signal for a t-break.
