Couldn't agree more. I love new tech stuff.

One last question so we don't totally hijack Tiamo's thread. I am assuming that the menu that you display in your post with the lsd, mdma, and psilocybin (595) comes with a firmware update. Did you get the firmware update from Miraculix or IO Rodeo or elsewhere?

I could wait for the Miraculix release, but when it comes to tech toys, I have no patience. I see it, I want it now. So my mouse is hovering over the 'Buy Now' button right now.

I got the colorimeter and the firmware from miraculix. But i don´t know if they will offer it for free download and i somewhat doubt i am supposed to start spamming their alpha firmware before the product is released.
I texted Dr. Blei and asked if and how one would go about getting one for testing, but i think i overheard there are only a hand full in circulation at this point. I will let you know what he answered.

I was just shocked i got it wrong when i tested the last time, even though i have been playing with the tests for almost 2 years now and i do know how tricky it is. I guess complacency got me.

I got a very quick reply from Dr. Blei!
Right now miraculix is waiting for IO Rodeo and IO Rodeo is waiting for parts to build the things as fast as possible. Firmware will be available, as soon as colorimeters are available for shipping.

Thank you amigo. I noticed that the preorder link on Miraculix doesn't actually work yet. I will send them an email, but I can wait if I have to. I am eager, but actually just being impatient in a hobby that has taught me better than that.

I did find some absorption vs concentration data for the 470nm led board to create a calibration file, but I would prefer to support the Miraculix team in their efforts. So I will wait on their release and approved firmware.

I feel like a kid at Christmas, though. Time to write a letter to Santa.

We should at least list the readings made with our new toy seperately.

@Tiamo
I averaged and adjusted my readings for the 0,95ml i used. If you want to list them, use these:
Golden Teacher 8,3mg/g
Enigma 11,2mg/g
(10mg/g for the 9 week one, 12mg/g for the 2 year old one and 11,6mg/g for the 7-8 week one)


I am now inocculating AA+, Arenal Volcano, Z-strain, Fiji, India, Wollongong, Rusty White, Columbian Rust Spore and another Golden Teacher. After that i will retest PFRS, Golden Mammoth, Golden Halo, John Allen, my leucistic GT, my red spore GT (new mutant!) and Enigma again. That should take care of all the tests i have left...

Interesting developments when it comes to the IO Rodeo device! Right now it just seems like an add-on to their normal QTest, right? Which means you'd still have to buy a normal kit every time? Are they planning to offer solvent bottles in larger volumes specifically for the photometer down the line, or is it known what chemicals the kit consists of (although I very much suspect this to be proprietary, especially detection vial liquid)?

They will offer bulk liquids. As soon as the whole paperwork stuff with regulations and declaration of hazardous goods is figured out. Dr. Blei said it is just a matter of weeks.
The liquids are proprietary indeed. Thats the biggest part of their IP i imagine.

Spoke to frank with q test, funny how I lived in Tahoe 16 years and never ran into these guys.

So there is a way to register with them and get bare bones q test for around $13

I use an older Iorodeo colorimeter for aquarium tests. It's awesome that they are working with Miraculix. Hopefully soon we'll be able to get an instrument with a pre-made calibration curve. While that won't be as good as making your own curve, it would be a huge step up from eyeballing the damn chart.

So the clone I took from this ms tub


Has come in… kinda.  Pretty dismally..


Although, the first flush of the ms tub was similar and then just exploded a few days after harvesting the first flush so I’m hoping for the same but managing my expectations

This tub had a 1” peat casing added 1 week after spawning.  It was made on 4/11 so it was a slow ass tub (conditions could very well play into that delay because it’s not great temp-wise even though things usually go faster with hotter temps, they could be battling bacteria internally)

Anyway.. the results are much lower than the ms tub


The pre warmed solution is much less green so that matches with the end result.  I read it at about 14mg/g which is ~10mg/g less than the ms.

Kinda a bummer but learned a lot..
- There’s high potency sub strains in the ms and I’m gonna find em.
- It’s WAY past the end date of my season and this nat tub isn’t a stinking pile of moldy mess so that speaks to Nats resilience.. my grow area is hot af

If/when the second flush comes in decently, I’ll retest if only to look consistency in the test results :thumbup:

And I’m very happy I will round down to the lesser 1.5 but looks real damn close to 1.8.
I look forward to getting the new tester and taking my eyes best guess out of the equation

I was just wondering if anyone could come up with what the chemicals are that the tests contain. Maybe we could be able to source them in bulk and divide them among small jars ourselves, effectively reducing the cost.

@Diver I agree with the 1.8, judging from my phone. Awesome work!

Pretty sure that it is a proprietary formula that Miraculix created and holds the IP rights for. I don't think it is something that could be obtained off the shelf.

They do have a "bare bones" kit for labs that do bulk testing and register with their whole sale program.

And it sound like they are exploring bulk packaging, too. But are still working out the labeling requirements and other logistics. But I think that I just read that in this thread, so don't quote me.

I asked about the requirements to be considered for whole sale along with a bunch of other questions, but didn't get a response to that question and haven't followed up.

So this indeed happened..  2nd flush was much better (third flush is already starting after a nice rehydration)


Tested the 2nd flush immediately after drying and got identical results so at least the tests are consistent

Last week I used one of the Miraculix Q tests to test a recent harvest of Psilocybe cubensis Tidal Wave(TW). This liquid culture of TW was acquired from a commercial vendor in the USA and grown out on on BRF pint cakes in a SFC at a temperature of roughly 25 degrees Celcius or 78 Fahrenheit. The time from birthing to harvest was approximately 1.5 weeks.


Looks to me like a solid 18mg (1.8%). I tried an experiment by sampling a gram and had a great buzz and color enhanced scenery. Felt like it was twice as strong as mushrooms I have purchased elsewhere.

Howdy y'all, very excited to try some of these sometime soon. Question though:

I see that a lot of people did 0.75 for the more potent varieties so that they don't go off the scale.

Would it be safer to just use 0.5g all the time, and then multiply the result by 3? Or for regular varieties should we still use the full 1.5g?

Has anyone who has done .75 ever go off scale? Azurences and Pan Cyans are the ultimate winners from what I saw?

I did a few at .5 and didn't see a benefit to it so I went back to the .75. I reduced mine just in case they were strong which I kind of figured they were based on my experiences with my shrooms. I'm glad I did. I don't see a reason to not do the .75 test with regular varieties unless you think they are weak to begin with. Using the .5 app the time might cause you to not see a result. I believe the test was designed based on regular cubes potency. If you clone for potency the .75 should be fine, if you do a multi spore, you will probably be on with the 1.5g. If I'm testing pans I'll reduce it to the .5 since they are way stronger then cubes.
