Pasteurization can be tricky I gather. Have you tried out pan-cakes? That might get you some pretty fast since you just have to PC the whole thing away.

Fully sterilized subs are something I do want to try again, for sure. I have been taking a one-size-fits-all approach to begin with (this season) and grown on so the same pasteurized sub, a combination of straw pellets, manure, hardwood fuel pellets, and coir. I've had mixed results, but some outliers are these baeocystis and neoxalapensis. I think some species want a rich/diverse nutrient profile, but that's still an untested hypothesis, and I do plan to go back and attempt to run clones on coir+verm sub.

Anyway the reason I'm talking about the sub is, I don't have an extreme amount of green with others. So probably something wrong with my grain prep or hydration when it comes to pans. That and just dirty spawn getting through. My strategy is to run enough that I beat the odds. Seems to work for me.

Took some prints of leucistic but not brown-spored fruits from an accidental (presumed) cross of Rusty Whyte and something else:

I had put the caps in a food container before taking that picture. A couple hours later I remembered they were still in there, and after I took them out I noticed a nice print on the bottom of the container

That was after these had been printing for like 24 hours! (Overkill, yes, but also easier than finding time earlier in the day take them off the foil.)

I know a lot of other people have already chimed in. But I had a friend that was using a similar setup and just about every culture he gifted me I had to clean up on water agar to prevent contamination down the line.

Contamination can hide on a plate.  Especially when the sterile conditions aren't sterile.

I used something similar to that setup for months, similar filter and size, it worked great for that short amount of time,  tight af work space but still preferable to an SAB, fuck those things, they work fine but I like being able to move and see freely  here we’ve got people claiming to do open air and we’re down on this? Sure it’s not preferable but if it works I say go for it👍you’ve all made your point and I’ve definitely seen and done worse.

Ya’ll need to stop tripping on the little things, you can and will get contam despite best efforts and equipment, and each time we (hopefully) get better at avoiding it.

That left one.......

Here are some of those semp boxes from 2 weeks ago. The cups seem to have stalled, it has been quite cold here (much as -2c* at night to 15c* by day) but  gonna try and start them fruiting fresh.
Little ones, the unmodded (right hand) seems to have progressed faster being that they're 2 halves of same grain Q:

^(phone food filter came on, didn't take another pic)
Shoebox (not been going as long) has EZ style holes but so far still knotting up nice. All 3:1, all misted heavy 1x daily.

Ghost SB showing life as are APE, semp, cyan & ghost on grain but I've no upload space right now.
Didn't get a pic of the Nat shoebox today but this web image is pretty much exactly how it looks, but sparkly:

Happy culting.

Happy to see these guys opening up. From an old agar plate I made in 2022 before I moved and stopped growing for a bit. No idea what they are

Exactly! I just love too see them grow :inlove: To quote a famous movie: "you never know what you're going to get!"

I have one of those.  Folks are gonna give you SH!T about it but in my case, in my USDA VERY humid hardiness zone 6 in a remodeling house with Sheetrock and borate dust EVERYWHERE I've used mine over 30 times through around 90 plates with a contam rate below 5%.  I'll take it.  Technique with any device or environment is vital in any case.  Things like "wash your self down before working, iso70 yourself down before working, never get between flow and your work piece, never hover above your work piece, put on a hair net or be shaven bald, etc, etc" seem simple BUT are vital for success.  As far as that gordo device goes if  it's not in use keep a clean plastic bag taped snugly over that filter to keep particulate from settling in the filter folds.  ANY flow-hood filter where you don't keep the filter outflow area as clean as possible is bound to present an upward ramp in contam rate eventually.  Sure .... it's not a perfect 48x48 flow-hood BUT I find it WAY more comfortable than a cramped SAB.  It all boils down to preference in your environment.  Heck, you pay the rent, taxes, and booze bill there so you're the one who makes the rules.
