Yeah, shpongle is very cool. Their songs seem to have a more happy energy to them. Simultaneously relaxing and mind-mending. Though not really scary stuff at all (a good thing in my opinion, it seems like it would be good as background trip music.)
If you like Shpongle you probably also know about Hallucinogen right-? I understand it's one of the same people in both so almost the same thing.
FSOL "lifeforms" CD (whole thing) and most of Juno Reactor (I especially like "Jardin de Cecile," "Feel the Universe" and "Razorback".)
hm what else.
Infected Mushroom...
Orb's Floyd remixes definitely
their Tangerine Dream remix (Mandarin cream)
Chiron- The Garden of Mirror Halls...
Slinky Wizard- Lunar Juice...
I like Autechre + Aphex Twin (and Caustic Window who = Aphex Twin) but they both might be too grating for shrooms (too many scrapes and pops and zaps.)

While tripping you gotta listen to Pink Floyd either the Wall or dark side of the Moon, and anything from the Doors!
Another ctrazy experience is listening to tribal music, it will take you places that you have never been, in this lifetime!

The absolutely best tripping music must be God Speed You Black Emperor, Mogwai or Tortoise.

Call me a traditionalist, but I believe the best trip music is Hippie Jam Bands... the Dead, the Allmans, WSP, Phish, Moe., Left Over Salmon, etc, etc
There is a difference in knowing the path and walking the path

I only really like one song from Darkside of the moon that much, and thats 'Brain Damage'. As for the music I listen to when I'm trippin me ballzies off, I prefer just about anything from good ol' Floydy. I also like to listen to a lot of the newer songs from Red hot Chili Pepers, the beatles (can you sya revolution 9? ;-), Pimus, and a few others. I like a lot of dance music as well, but mostly stuff from Prodigy and TalvinSingh. One song i found to be most trippish, is that stupid song from Smashmouth,' Then Morning comes'. Not music I ever listen to, but this song is supurb when your driving around on your peek ;-) Yipea! hehe

if u like hallucinogen and infected mushroom check out:
hux flux (cryptic crunch cd , especially experimenting with potions)
logic bomb
haldolium
growling mad scientists (gms vs. systembusters cd or do androids dream of electric sheep? )
vibrosphere
kox box (searching for psychoactive herbs on dragon tales)
hallucinogen - the herb garden from mystery of the yeti (new cd... really mellow and trippy,)
they are all sweet psytrance/techtrance whatever... =) shpongle is still hard to beat though
necton has a cool psytrance remix of beverly hills cop too...

I've tried alot of different types of music and Nine Inch Nails is my favorite for tripping. Tool and APC are my favorite bands but they suck to trip on. The Downward Spiral is their best CD. It has so many different layers to explore and lots of little secrets that are hard to catch without a little help (wink, wink). The best song is Reptile. listen to it and you'll know why.
