New music for tripping

Lately the only music that has inspired me to listen to when I trip next is: Morcheeba (I don't know which CD) and Groundrush (Groundrush is by Green Issac) I am contemplating eating some shrooms sometime in the near future and I want to be WELL prepared in the music depatrment. Any suggestions? Nothing too hard but way, way out there.

Every time I trip I try to listen to something different, but we ALWAYS end up listening to Incubus. Not only is every member of the band an excellent musician, but their lyrics are very akin to all the things that pop into my head when I'm tripping, and their DJ creates that "complete" feeling, by concentrating (most of the time anyway) solely on fleshing out the ambient noises and other "background details". I truly believe they are the perfect mushroom trip background music. And to the naysayers who have to hate on any album that's gone "mainstream": Try "Fungus Amongus" sometime, they made it a long time ago. It's ridiculously trippy. Starts out kinda "normal" but it just spirals into absolute utter insanity. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is also incredible on psychedelics, but so is EVERY one of their albums in it's own way, so I'll just leave it at that.

I like to listen to post-rock a lot when I trip: Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt. Zion, Explosions in the Sky, Rachel's, Don Caballero
I also like IDM (intelligent dance music) - Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Plaid, Squarepusher, Amon Tobin
And of course the classic trip CDs - Pink Floyd (Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Piper at the Gates of Dawn), Beatles (Abbey Road, Revolver, Rubber Soul, White, Sgt. Peppers), King Crimson (In the Court of the Crimson King)

Which Incubus should I buy first? And it's funny, the place where I bought Groundrush (Fuckin' great for tripping) also sells Shpongle, but he didn't recommend it. Ya know, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Grateful Dead (Any), Olivia Tremor Control (Black Foliage), Enerson, Lake $ Palmer (Brain Salad Surgery). They work well for me.

If you listen to Olivia Tremor Control you should listen to Nuetral Milk Hotel. Jeff Mangum is great.

Done deal. Concider it purchased. Are you familiar with any other OTC CD's other than Black Foliage? and let me tell you that one was nearly impossible to get my hands on.

Neutral Milk Hotel is actually incredibably different. It is basically a Bob Dylan-esque take on psychedelic music. Personally the guys voice starts to bug me. But it is a lot of acoustic, which I always enjoy, however much different from the intricate Olivia Tremor Control.

The reason I recommended Neutral Milk Hotel was because:
Neutral Milk Hotel essentially remained the work of Jeff Mangum, a singer/songwriter from the remote town of Ruston, LA. Ruston was also home to Robert Schneider (later of the Apples), as well as William Cullen Hart and Bill Doss (who formed the Olivia Tremor Control) [www.allmusic.com]
Of course, you may not like the singer, but I personally love him. He is very Dylan-esque in his lyrics and vocals.

I love Dylan he is my fvorite aongwriter of the 1900's. Although I saw him open for the Dead and he was terrible. I always liked an "off" voice. I am a singer / songwriter and you gotta hear how "off" I am. I'll give them a try.

if anyone is looking to get into neutral milk hotel, get "in the aeroplane over the sea" amazing record.
one of my top ten albums ever.
the whole elephant 6 collective put out some really good stuff for a few years there.
best of the bunch IMO:
Neatral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Neatral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island Apples in Stereo - The Discovery of a World Inside the Moone Apples in Stereo - Her Wallpaper Reverie Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break Essex Green - Everything Is Green The Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage: Animation Music Of Montreal - Cherry Peel Great Lakes - Great Lakes
To me this was the most interesting thing to come out of indie rock in the late 90's this whole sound really hit home and i still pop them in now and again.
so if you have not heard these bands and you like psych pop music, take a listen.
