in that trippy voice... man what a message!
i have also recently just started to read DMT:the spirit molecule by rick strassman. im only to the second chapter... and my god life/human body/mind = the greatest machine ever created... it is so damn interesting.

i prefer a little more classical/symphonic to house/trance. anything with lots and lots of musical layers, but not necessarily and driving trance beat.

Ya, I prefer jazz but shpongle are a new breed....... Over rated? Well if you look in the right places they do seem almost worshiped. Over-rated, I think not. I think they deserve every bit of praise. As a jazz musician, I can admit they can be pretty wild and seperate of most electronic groups out there that I have heard. They will always be amazing. If you do not understand why so many people like them so much it is first of all, likely you are not a musician, and or secondly you didnt hear what those listeners had heard. I think the saying "to be over-rated" is over-rated. lol ------------------------------------------------------------ lsd dmt, dmt tmd, dmt tmd, lsd(rest)dmt lsd dmt, tmd dmt, I was hardly ready, lsd(rest)dmt ........Or atleast thats my interpretation of the riff, though there is no doubt they say "I was hardly ready", "lsd", and most importantly "dmt".
One of my fav parts of anything they have recorded. Its like a supercomputer spitting out numbers as words......
Fuckin genius..........

Thats cool as hell.
After using hallucinogens I discovered a talent that so few people have. The ability to play any song on any instrument. This is partly because as a kid I started on the sax and could read music. I then moved to the guitar because I thought it was cool when I was a kid. I fell in love with that and the bass guitar. From there I realized I could play almost any instrument. I have become quite good at piano, drums, bass and guitar. I can thank psychedelics for that to some degree. There is no reason I should have understand the maths music involves so quickly. Improvisation is another story. Thats partly why I come to this forum so often. Psychedelics opened up so many doors for me, some of which, even with music, the effects were VERY positive and beyond the norm. Without boasting, most people consider me to be a musical genius. This is true to those people, because I just learn so fast and have done it without a lesson in my life besides the sax when I was about 12 years old. There is no doubt some of this ability has to do with the massive doses I have taken for all the right reasons. Then again, a am a skilled visual artist and have been since a very young age. Still I am sure the maths music is made of would not be as apparent to me had I never used hallucinogens. Nor would I have the same inspired capasity to speak. Its all the same thing. Frequencies on the head of a pin........
For me shpongle is so visual to the point that I do believe it is graphed out to some degree before the finished product. I mean those guys know how to make numerous cyclical gears that interact with each other at the same time etc.

I just thank psychedelics for accentuating my talents, sorry if I got on your nerves there dude. The truth can seem a bit pompous sometimes. Sorry for that too. Just trying to make a point.(good lord)
Oh ya and "you" a dick...... FFaaaaaaarrrtttttttttt..........
If it were not the truth would I say that? Well I could, but that would serve no purpose.

Ever hear you enjoy myself by phish.....well I dont have that on my comp. But in my sophomore year of highschool I could recreate that song on a four track as a 4 piece band(piano bass, drums and guitar). and thats a hard song to solo to/play the written parts...
Really I have no reason to boast. I just wanted people to realize how much psychedelics change your perception of music.
Im a very weird, person, and am very skilled in the arts, is that so funny. I dont think so. Its just the truth. Im a fucking freak of nature as far as I can tell, there is no reason my musical and artistic ability should be any different.
I am now a "senior" in college and if I could learn you enjoy myself on all four intruments as a sophomore in highschool without music schooling of some sort, ya you could say I am damn talented, close to any savant, and inspired during impovisation by mypsychedelic past to a great extent. Its just the truth, I wouldnt make that up though you couldnt tell the difference if I had.

Ozric Tentacles, hmmmmmmmm, I should buy an album because what I have heard live sounds like a million asses all firing at once.
Thats just me though. I am certain each and every musician is talented and skilled as can be. Thats why I should probably just buy an album...

ozric has like 20 albums, pick up a few. some albums im like WTF were they on? crack? and other albums take me to a whole different world. they mix good jams with excellent bass riffs. throw in all kinds of foreign and middle eastern style twists. and lay some psychedelic smackdown between your eardrums.
a good album is Erpland, but theyve got better. songs ide recommend;
Dots Thots Mysticum Arabicola Erpland
theres others, cant think of too many at the moment
they are great when your kickin back
no offence with the mozart deal, didnt mean to bruise your great reputation as the worlds greatest self enthusiast.

I've heard Shulman, Hallucinogen, Ozric, Younger Brother, Celtic Cross and all that stuff but none of it was as good as Shpongle to me.
Infected Mushroom is like in a whole other category... It's trippy music but I don't know if I'd like to actually TRIP to it. Seems more amphetamine fueled.

I wasn't going to post in another Shpongle thread, but I couldn't help myself.
Shpongle is the best trip music, period. I listen to all 3 of their albums all the time and never get sick of them.
As for Ozrics, they are simple amazing. Shroomie didn't even mention their good songs. Which are: The Domes of G'Bal, Ghedengi, Tight Spin, Vibuthi, Sultana Detrii....I could go on. Definitely check out all of these guys' catalog. I would recommend Waterfall Cities, Become the Other, Erpland and The Hidden Step as their top albums.
As for other artists like Shpongle...
Capsula (this guy makes some of the trippiest music I've ever heard) Shulman Entheogenic Androcell Ott

Nah, they were all good.....But thanks for the musical critique flowie...
Shroomieofdoomie, your right, they might have said most of that, DMT is dominant, then lsd, and then the words "I was hardly ready" at the end....
AT least thats what I hear... You certainly did clarify the song again for me, as I was not listening to it when I wrote my last remark.

Good programmers are lazy I find. Its how/why I started programming.

oh i thought of something! i like music that doesnt rely on beats to drive and move the music. i like music that uses layers of instruments, notes, chords, arrangements, sounds, anything but one long shifting drum beat (which is what techno seems to be).
now i like techno a lot, but ideally for tripping i want something that isnt techno. so there. some of the hooks and intros in shpongle songs i like a lot. but then its back to same old boom boom boom boom boom boom takataka boom boom boom boom taka takataktakaka. then it changes to be bop be be bop bop taka be bop.

Most good programmers I know are super-lazy and their motivation for doing things, is to make things they do easier. *laugh* That being said, I've never been attracted to game programming. More applications and utilities.
You may be interested in checking out some minimal techno. Some things worth checking out are.
- Richie Hawtin : DE9 Transitions is amazing, and DE9 Closer to the Edit is also really good (not so much a fan of decks and effects, too banging), and his earlier releases as Plastkiman such as Consumed and Closer
- Troy Pierce live PAs. link - link 2
SleepArchive is also very trippy - great PA of his *Note: rapid share is a bit of a pain to get files from, but its worth it IMO.
Its funny, I saw him at a club awhile ago - and a bunch of people had no idea how to react to him, because alot of the time there just wasnt a beat - just these really dense droning sounds with weird sounds sort of 'fluttering' around the room, and not a straight up 4-4 beat.
But of all those, I'd recomend DE9: transitions the most, that CD is just beautiful, and not your normal boom-boom-boom techno, its very delicate, very intricite and complex - its really, really good.

Shpongle is really fucking good, but Infected Mushroom seems more talented. They were actually supposed to be here in atlanta on saturday and they FUCKING CANCELED THE FUCKING SHOW FUCK!!!. Download Dracul and Scorpion frog by Infected Mushroom and tell me what you really think. Shpongle was sex the first time i heard them tripping and have a ton of respect for them, but i think infected mushroom is on another level as far as production goes.
Dracul and Scorpion Frog and tell me what you think. Play it loud on good speakers or use headphones or dont bother.

Well, the voice actually says "Div...vine...Mo...ments...of....Truth" Right before the female vocoder comes in...right around 5:02-5:10.
And this is what Posford says about the song as well:
"The lyrics for D.M.T have occasionally moments of clarity interspersed with nonsense.....the actual bits that make some sort of sense are as follows: "DMT , DMT , doo dee doo DMT. LSD? do DMT! LSD? do DMT!....Divine moments of truth, total and utter cosmic stuff , Dmt dmt dmt dmt" etc. other phrases in there between the gibberish are.."be here now"; and "i love everybody" - Simon Posford

Boards of Canada has always been one of my favorites. Listen to Geogaddi and Music Has The Right To Children as well...such incredibly unique stuff.
And hey McKennaDMT, is your title by chance an Ott reference? If so:

Yes...yes it is. I consider Ott the most talented artist making music today.

AH! Yeah man, Ott is like...my love potion. I can't get enough. Although I'll stop raving seeing as how this is a shpongle-centric thread. Good to meet you Mckenna!

Yeah I used to feel that way about I.M. until I actually listened to an album, instead of just downloaded songs. Find Converting Vegeterians...there's a lot of dynamism there.

ok, i know i'm a few days late, but these are artist i feel very passionate about.
Shpongle: three albums: Are Your Shpongled Tales of the Inexpressible Nothing lasts... but Nothing is Lost Some of my favorite music, period. Each album is amazing and yet totally different. each is a journey though unique realms. it Will lead u through laughter, hallucinations, and divination.
Simon Posford: He would get my vote for greatest musical genius of this generation. He is shpongle, hallucinogen, Celtic cross, mystery of the yeti, infinity project, and he has a hand in everything that comes out of twisted records--which is a lot of very good stuff. in the music scene he is a god among men.
I.M. infected is very dynamic. most of their stuff is Goa, and true to form delivers a raging psychedelic mind bending kaleidoscopic tunnel vison atop a bumping beat. But at times it can also be very melodic, deep, soulful, and beautiful. I disagree with some stated sentiments that the old stuff is better. Infact part two of the newest album, though not typical i.m. is my fav stuff to date. other very good psychedelic electronic music, Some of this has been mentioned.
Ott: two albums: Blumenkraft, thats German for "flower power". Hallucination: In Dub. this is ott remixing some Hallucination tracks. Dont be fooled, the term remix might be misleading. more appropriate would be "giving new life to an existing entity." unlike any other remix album out there. generally his stuff is just beautiful and deeply moving. highly recommend.
entheogenic: three albums: Dialogue of the Speakers Spontaneous Illumination Entheogenic ---> my personal fav Entheogenic is some very good stuff, not quite as distinct as some ott or shpongle but still very emotional and good.
Shulman: Three albums: In Search of a Meaningful Moment Random Thoughts Soundscapes And Modern Tales again very good stuff, very spacey and dreamy.
Bluetech: Three albums: Elementary Particles Prima Materia Sines and Singularities Bluetech again, very good stuff. Often very chill and downtempo. can be smooth jazzy mind warp delight to very funky and extatic.
Magic Sound Fabric: Two albums: Freedom Star---> my fav of the two Uplift Drift MSF delivers an amazing experience. from smooth synths to tribal percussion. its got the whole package. very unique sound and a delight to trip to.
Abakus: one album: This Much Closer to the Sun again, very good stuff. much recommend. very chill, many organic elements. often makes me think of a breathtaking desert sunrise.
All of this stuff is truly great music. check it out. If anyone has soul seek, feel free to download from me. u can find me in the "Shroomery" room.

You guys should try listening to some 1200 Micrograms. Of particular interest to this group might be the song "Magic Mushrooms", which I am listening to right now. I find their songs really mimic drug experiences, and are excellent to listen to both while intoxicated and sober.
On a side not, I get to see Infected Mushroom this summer at a 3 day cave party I'm gonna be one happy little mushroomhead.
