I am very very excited to see some makarorae pins!
I’m working on a write up that I’ll put out either when this fails or matures. I do really hope to be able to pass spores around, so fingers crossed, and if you catch me fiddling with this give me a big spanking, need to remember to keep my hands off and let it do it’s thing. There is no information about cultivating makarorae, the only thing that was thought to be a maka grow that I could find turned out to be angulospora.

I'm definitely interested to lurkingly hear how it turns out. Alan's noted that the tryptamine "gene cluster" might well be different in these than in psilocybes (perhaps the same as the active Inocybe), and that there's a higher content of baeocystin in these.

I wonder how the mycelium will look on the spawned sub.

Awesome work getting these to cooperate so far. :dancer:

So I'm going to spawn this. If the stones are dense I'll eat them, if they are soft they'll get spawned.(might just eat them anyway 😂)

Going to spawn to 4 grams elk poo, 10 grams coir and 50 ml hwfp. Hydrated with about cup of water then pasteurized.

The stones have stopped growing and are pulling away from the glass.

Jar was inoculated August 8.

So here are the last invitro shots, one under UV.

So the masses are dense and rubbery. Weighed 22grams. The jar is a 250ml jar half filled.
Took a bunch of clones before spawning.
After removing the outer layer the inside smelled strongly of piss, so I don't have high hopes for it making good spawn. The outer layer peeled away from the substrate cleanly and easily.
This was my fasted strain by far so I'm going to play with direct spawning after colonization.
Will see if those growths are active tonight. They did not bruise yet.

A little bit of cyan’s popped up. Here’s a picture. Hopefully I’ll get some soon that are more mature and wavy!

Subaeruginosa

Probably also Subaeruginosa

Some very lonely Azurescens

Cyanescens in a little container right by our front door, that nobody ever notices

Some more Cyanescens pins in the garden patch

Only in recent days did we have the first really cold nights. That's probably the main reason why there are so few Azurescens fruits this year.

It's not over until the fat lady sings though. It amazes me how many months on end Cyanescens mycelium can keep on fruiting.

Nice work Enjoi & Tweeq.  I kind of like them small before spores get every where.  Might have been put up against some bad weather.  The cold and dry can kind of stunt them into half aborting where the cap turns black but the stipe keeps growing some... ovoids will do that at least.

So I took a little nibble of the P.smithii 'stones.' and there is no way I'm choking those back fresh, the taste was horrendous and bitter. Drying them now and will take it in capsules later this week.
Just a little bit made my tongue go instantly numb.

Have you thought of doing a miraculix psilocybin test? I haven't ordered yet myself but this looks pretty interesting.

I have only eaten a fruit or two at a time and they have a very distinct flavor. But I couldn’t say it was bad. I’m anxious to hear how your experience goes.

The 22 grams dried to 4.5.
So about 80% water.

@wavyedge might look into that sometime down the road.
