Today is an exciting day. I've been adding Psilocybe Cyanescens colonized hardwood chips to this area of the yard in the PNW over the last many months. The temps have been dropping and we've seen a fair amount of rain over the last two weeks. Today I discovered these popping up underneath the fern.

Congratulations!
Those look great - very happy with what you’ve been feeding them and where you placed them. Well Done!

Check this primordia

I also took some great macro of a cap/gills!

Not really seeing much action on the other patches unfortunately, but I am not giving up my hopes. Still September, or that's what I keep telling myself lol. I am fighting the wind the best I can, which is why stipe on some is bluing. Troubles of an outdoor grow, nature is very hard to fight. I have a new mister timer that is gonna be here today that will allow me to have it go off every 15 minutes instead of every hour, which for a windy day, 1 hour between misting is not good enough.

One of these days I definitely need to create a journal, to detail my success start to finish. I'd love to see people grow more of these. I suspect I may have just gotten lucky with good genes with my spore/culture selection, but if I can reproduce this from spore which I most definitely am going to do, perhaps allenii might be a good cultivation species.

I’m pretty sure this post is the parents of these little pins!

These things take patience, spores we’re put to agar probably November 2021
many thanks to Holofractal for all they’ve contributed!
Hope your well Holo!!!

I’ve got into carnivorous plants. I really like having sundew near some of the outdoor patches cause they catch a lot of gnats. The pics here are D. binata with leaves that were sent out at the end of summer that just got absolutely covered by fungus gnats over a couple of days. They sent out a few leaves after those after we got some cooler temps which are the fresher cleaner looking ones in the pic. I believe these are fungus gnats, I may be wrong, but I like the idea that they are knocking some of the adults back. I really really like that they give me a new view of studying another organism.

My D. capensis went to seed and spread like a weed/carpet. I’ll have to repot this fly trap and I’ll have far more capensis crowns than I can deal with so I’d love to share these, I’ve also collected capensis and binata seed(though I’m not sure if this binata is self fertile). If anyone wants any shoot me a message. I’m going to limit live plants just to the states, but I’ll send seeds international, I think that’s pretty leagal😉.

Checked my notes when I made the patch posted above.  it’s listed as cyan/azzy because I mixed up labels but shape and size and umbo suggest these are azzys, not cyans.

Previous post when I started this azzy culture back in January:

God damn son, you've got some good cyan and azzie genetics.

I'm glad you're seeing rewards for all of your efforts, you really earned it.

I got into carnivorous plants as well!

My D. camp keeps getting it's flower stalks cut off, damn those things FUCK.  I've got it on fruit fly duty right now.

Carniverous plants are fun and I'm really enjoying tinkering with them.  Currently feeding the sarracenia a bunch of white oak grubs to get them nice and fat for winter dormancy.  I don't get enough light up here and will probably be moving them to a friend's place close by.

Took a walk through the garden last night and spotted my gym log is poppin.  Figured it’d be a good time for a brew.

    Ingredients:

Datura: innoxia, and metel.  50/50 dry/fresh leaves seeds and stems.

Activated lactobacillus that was captured under flowering mint early summer, Ps. allenii, Ps. cyanescen, Gymnopilus luteofolius, Calendula, Dandelion, Iopomea, spritz of tequila, kosher amps, 100% pomegranate juice pollinated cannabis inflorescence…...  oh yes eye of frog and venom of spider.
Anyway I soaked the Datura, and cannabis seeds in lactobacillus, I shredded the plant material and added 3-4 cups lactobacillus, 1 cup pomegranate juice. I used a small fermenter to see if I can get a bit more action. From the mix.
I set aside a bit of poultice for a compress.  I’ve been suffering from nerve pain.  I’ve tried a simple mash with just the datura and it seemed to help more than anything I’ve tried.

I’m excited to add a few more transmitters to my poultice and see how things go.  The fermented juice might be an interesting additive for the morning coffee.

Oh yea there seems to be some genetics that were introduced to the area that MM found.  They are strange for sure.  A bit darker of a cap.  Not sure what they are yet.  Probably just allenii…

Kidding froggy is fine.  Pretty sure I have pics of her from the garden chilling on the young Datura leaves.  She moved into the kitchen.  My wife put her outside and the next day she was back.  For awhile she lives in the husk of the Datura seed pod.  We’ve since made a little habitat for her and she seems content sitting on her log staring at the fermented fruit I set out to attract fruit flies.

I had zero interest in frogs before.  Now it has brought a lot of things to my attention about what I use in my house and on myself.  At first I was spraying cleaners with no thought.  I’ve learned that frogs are very sensitive to chemicals etc etc….  She has helped us to be a bit more eco friendly.

It always helps to have a frog friend to remind you.  Frogs are great, I had them all over the apartment growing up.  Pacific tree frogs really will just make themselves at home.  I bet she loves picking fruit flies off, perfect log tbh.

What is the obsession with growing woodlovers in plastic Tubs? Grow them in beds like god intended the yeilds are astronomically different

The benefit is that they more isolated from worms, moles, and other criters in tubs and pots, and you may get fruits more surely than a bed, of course big beds are more powerfull when succseed. Also many people likes to make spawn materials in tubs them make beds from it.

Im trying to find information on cold shocking shoe boxes with Ps Cyans.    If a shoe box was ready by December leaving them outside for a few days should trigger if it doesnt freeze?

Any info on fruiting shoe boxes all year round is what im after.  Obviously I have outdoor patches

Dear LandTrout and StanG, you guys were right!!

The first pins I have just noticed today! (They might have emerged 1-2 days ago)
Only the Cyanescens patches, the Azurescens have even more mycelium on the surface now, but more pins. I assume Azurescens tend to fruit later than Cyanescens?

Well, certainly seems to be the case here!

I am so excited, this is the FIRST ever time I have seen woodlover psilocybes in person!! You guys can't believe how I excited I was when I went to my usual every 2-3 days Patch patrol, expecting yet again to have no pins just mycelium: Yet this time, I was surprised, and BOOM, there were many pins at the sides of the cyanescens patches!!

I can't wait to be able to find Azure pins soon.. fingers crossed!
For future reference, it seems in this area they seem to fruit at around October 20-25!
