my outdoor bed and slugs
    #3009760 -

Im about to make an outdoor bed. The place im doing it is between a row of pine trees which are about 20 ft. tall and a huge lilac bush (the lilac bush is as big as the pine trees) so there will not really be any sunlight directly on it. I've been observing some medium sized mushrooms growing there recently, however ive noticed that about half of the mushroom is being eaten in one night by these big slugs! Should I hold off on it because I dont want the slugs to eat the cubies? Has anyone had this problem before? I was thinking of making a mote type of thing around the bed like a castle has so slugs can't get to it. Any suggestions?

Ya I've had that problem as well as every other OD grower I'm sure  Instead of a moat use Diatomaceous Earth it is razor sharp and slugs will not cross it.

you don't really need the moat, just pour the salt around it about and inch wide and it'll be ok, just make sure rain won't wash the salt into the bed or nothing will grow. Salt is cheep (like 25 cents) and it'll last till it rains.
