I'm all for the J -- but sadly even nicely stoned and at the proper pour temp (117F-125F) I've definitely experienced condensation. You know, it worked out and all, but probably one of the more annoying things I deal with regularly.

I have no thermometer. Just pour when the bottle is close to luke warm to the touch. No condensation save for the top few plates but they clear up quickly.

Maybe I leave my plates longer than for just a j lol.
My sab is in a closet, so I just close the door and leave em till I get there. Usually in the morning.

I'm getting ready to pour in a few minutes. I might try leaving the lid cracked so the steam can release for 20 seconds or so after the pour. Being pretty darn slow in a sab so I don't stir the air... hopefully I can transfer from some of my contaminated dishes from earlier

I replied before refreshing opps lol I like the closet idea I pour in my only bathroom (shared space) so I gotta get it in and out. this time next year I hope to have a whole area dedicated to myc work.

Leaving the lid cracked slightly for 10 or 15 seconds did the trick. And waiting until lukewarm. Barely any condensate. Now I'll let them cool until morning when I do stuff with them.

I need to sterilize my pp5 petri dishes in oven bags next time I hit the store

Mine have a ton of condensation at first even when pouring at 117 degrees. It’s been clearing up pretty good after a day or 2.

the one that is really wet isn't pooling so that's good and I think the non-inoculated dishes are able to evaporate inside the ziplock so I think that's a plus... My last plates came out mint so this is a bit disappointing :facepalm:


Don’t leave them open but if you plan ahead you can leave them unwrapped in the SAB. I will also put paper taped over the arm holes just in case as I get condensation no matter what with pours or no pours.

I know you are not supposed to keep moldy dishes but Im tempted to let them grow out and see if the myc will fight the mold. I partitioned all my mold into bags and a separate shoebox. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. im not hoping for much though
