Colonization

Ordered some TAM (LC) Nocced up some BRF Cakes and its been 10 days still no signs of colonization. Just thought it was a bit weird because LC is "supposed to be faster" due to it not having to germinate. Was wondering what your guys thoughts are? I know it can take up to 2 weeks but ive literally went from MSS on some PES Hawaiian and saw colonization in 48 hours. This is my first time doing LC.

Vendors sell spores and LC only for microscopy.
You are not supposed to grow stuff with that.

Does your microscope have a camera?

Maybe post pics of that culture so we can have a look if it's viable.

This will take a little longer I know but carefully testing a drop of that LC on agar in a still air box, should give you some idea if the LC is actually clean to begin with.

lol so that picture of the cat on the monotub.. is that not a concern for contamination? im fairly new and confused if contamination is mainly just an issue in the early stages. is contamination not an issue once the mushrooms are fruiting? i have a long haired cat that spews hair everywhere, but i have a legit air filter also, so i dunno if that is going to be an issue in the long run

No. Contamination happens because of poor sterile procedures before full colonization.


Your air filter does nothing for sterility.

Contamination isn't much of a concern after you get the grain in the tub. 

A lot of people try to correlate their issues to their environment and claim that something they did caused contamination.

Those people just generally don't know how to spot sketchy grain spawn.

Contamination starts in the grain spawn. You can relax after you spawn to bulk since there are thousands of mold spores and airborne bacteria everywhere.
