Don't worry sunshine, I'm too old to be from the generation that "triggers" easily, lol

Huh, and here I was trying to figure it out by asking a TC for guidance  Especially a TC I've already gotten great info from before... Thanks BTW for your millet prep page, been using it to great effect bulking up my shiitake spawn for spring log inoculation.  Much better then 99% of the info from some of the youtube channels I've seen

Right. I think DERRAYLD uses a lab coat.

Sure, other than it being loose flappy clothing which doesn't belong in the lab.

Well, yeah, there is that.

But like, if you soaked it in bleach, then it would be fine, right?

No offense, it's a contentious subject that only ever leads to bickering. I'm a right tools for the right job sorta guy, sure, you can use a toothbrush to paint a portrait, or your house, but should you?

Instant pots are super convenient for liquid media like agar and LC, but are more expensive than a 23q Presto which serves multiple purposes.

I'm hesitant to recommend Instant pots, if you already have one, fine, I've proven they're capable of passing autoclave validation protocol; they can destroy bacterial endospores, however, if you scroll down to the "conclusions" section of my validation thread you'll see that there are more variables to consider.

Giving my stamp of approval is kind of like giving folks enough rope for them to attempt strangling me with, I grow tired of online arguments:lol: they continue to pop up from time to time.

My insta pot take.they small with low psi. They can get you by with longer run times, but its not the correct tool really.

Lc and agar have the same reqs as pf cakes. You can steam sterilize them in 90-120 minutes. I used to do this before I got my pc to practice sterile tek, no pours, lc, and making use of half pints. I got a journal thread called using half pints or something like that with the proof.

Even if it's the same as steam sterilizing, I like using my instant pot for no-pour agar because I can set it up, go to bed, wake up, and do transfers.

But I digress.

Nobody needs to be PROMOTING the use of an instant pot. It's something you get away with.

I am still certain, we can make him to the guy in his avatar!

Right. I think DERRAYLD uses a lab coat.

Yep, it makes me feel all sciency and it keeps my bacteria ridden arms covered.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

No I don't clean the air in my room, I leave trich tubs exposed to maximize contamination and get my mycelium to fight to death in a ring of fire style scenario; strongest mycelium wins.
Luckily I've also been able to grow some mushrooms through out this process.

Hell yeah. I’m sick of all these wussies genetically selecting for the weakest/least contam resistant mycelium. If all you ever do is grow myc in a sterile bubble, then all you’ll get is myc that has to grow in a sterile bubble. I want real world conditions.

Fuck that I want worse than real world conditions.

I want gladiator fungi. I want genetically superior actives bred through trial by combat.

I want cultures that one could leave in open shoeboxes inside the dusty ass AC ducts at the elementary school in the bad part of town.

I want to KNOW with CERTAINTY that all that grey and green shit will absolutely get its ass kicked.

…that’s why I do things Willy’s Wayβ„’

:yields:

obviously I’m not advocating growing at an elementary school; those were the dirtiest AC ducts could think of and β€œhyperbole” is defined as β€˜exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.’

I wear a cotton surgical gown and cap for this reason. Easy to toss in the dryer while you shower before working.
