This may be a dumb question and I'm not even sure it's the proper thread but everyone here uses agar so I figured someone may have experience with my issue.
Back story:
I was working from a print of tidalwave that took me months to clean up on agar. One plate actually gave me a plate pin so I cloned it. I did 2 transfers after the initial plin clone to be sure it was clean. I sent it to 1qt wbs and spawned it once fully colonized. It was clean spawn. It didn't have excess moisture or grains stuck to the jar. It smelled only of fresh mushrooms. I spawned it at 1:4 (spawn:bulk) of CV bucket teked. I did the p9 pseudocasing top layer as I have done the last few grows. I did go a little light on the top layer at only 1 inch. The bulk is completely colonized. 10 days after full colonization it has not moved to the top layer. The tub still smells perfectly fine too. Temps and other conditions are normal compared to all my other grows.

My question:
Is it taking this long to move to the top layer because the plate pin I cloned took forever to show up on the plate? Has anyone had slow colonization with plate pins that took over a month to show up on a plate?

How much did you compress the top layer?
It may just be working it's way through but you can't see the mycelium yet.

You could be correct. I did go a little harder on the compression to try to limit side pins since I forgot my liner again. I didn't even think about that. How did people do this hobby back before the Internet existed? Thanks Derrayld!

Hey, that’s my first time ever playing with mushrooms  and thanks to all the amazing knowledge on here I managed to get this beautiful rhizo from Jack Frost swab, that’s third transfer and I’m super proud, other plates are already in grain jars for shoeboxes, mush love to the community!

Am I wrong but looks from that picture to have that milky off white which might be bacterial and those situations seem to take longer to fruit cause the myc is fighting the bacterial but more experienced will have better answer probably!?

A few pics of my best looking plates. Big shout out to Nichrome for posting the plastic petris that you can PC a bit ago.  These have been an absolute lifesaver.  Transferring to Pasty plates was a bit difficult to get right in the middle.  Loving the visibility and ease of these petris.
